As far you can see, that lift pin and so on is a way to read fw, and for those ppl who need original fw to put back hacked dvd to original are need original fw to spoof, that is what I waiting for! Maybe more top screct back door you can hide in fewer people but not this one, maybe one day we all can read fw  without lift pin, that even better!

"software" means> payment online service
"hardware" means> more difficult, need send and resend the drive....a lot complicated

If you cut that line there will be no 3.3v on MX but also on other part of the MT, it will not work.

Looks like this "left pin" secret has existent for long time... Why didn't I know?

It exists since the very first Lite-On model, doesn't it? It was the "last resort" Iriez was talking about back when the 83850c was published afaik.

It survived quite a lot without leaking! I still think there must be some way to dump it like the other revisions(key only).

I tried to left pin today. It's bit hard but ok for me
How ever I got "status 052" not "72" so I didn't get dump. It's not the best way for "a product line" so need to wait for the new direction

sliddon, i dont think theres going to be a non solderless method. those traces need to be lifted. there are no tracks to cut on that side of the board. try looking at the other side maybe.

If i were a big company i would make drives serceptible to these hacks for the sake that then you get  a modding community following along hence why sales of 360 and ps3 are so different.

its always has been about searching exploits... and MS patching them up... i don't see how releasing this exploit makes it ANY different then previous exploits for drives... how many drives have we had so far? how many revisions? how many firmwares?  it's just that this time someone get rich quick scheme probably was ruined, why bitch and moan so much about it this time around

This is the 2nd time that Geremia has taken information that was compiled in a group environment, and took it to the public without gaining the consent (or even bothering to ask permission!) of the majority of people who did the REAL work! This was not even HIS work!

What are you referring to? All i've revealed in first post is from my pocket.
I spent a lot of time in reversing my own 83xxx and 93xxx to find bugs to extract key, cause official liteon ways to get dvdkey were gone (the only way to not let them patch is to not hack it, the rest is bs), and if no re-glued liteons popped out into the market, i would still be there reversing.
So, i would say thanks to misterfly for its reglue job which exposed the pins.
What i posted in first post is nothing that you own, my hobby it's not your business.

I think its rather funny how some people argue the usefullness of an unreleased exploit.  There's no justification to hiding one... they are all excuses to make a quick buck.
