i have read all 23 pages of this thread, downloaded a few tools (nand compare, nandpro 2.0b, findsecdata), and started my HDD restoring, without any previous knowing of dumping and all that stuff.

i dumped nand 4 times before getting 2 good dumps.

I used nandpro 2.0b and since i have a Falcon Board 3.0 which is 16mb i typed

nandpro lpt: -r16 nand.bin        -1st dump
nandpro lpt: -r16 nand2.bin      -2nd dump
nandpro lpt: -r16 nand3.bin      -3rd dump
nandpro lpt: -r16 nand4.bin      -4th dump

after read ive checked them in nand compare i got this:

this means that two dumps match, remember to do that before writing back to console. this was my 3rd and 4th dump. first two dumps were bad because i surfed the internet and downloaded some stuff at the time of reading so my advice is, leave your pc alone while reading nand, turn off all your messengers, downloaders and stuff and leave it alone to dump in peace Smiley also as you can see on the picture, you can reconstruct 3rd nand from 2 bad ones, cause probably errors arent the same always, but i cant confirm that this will give you a good dump cause at the end i got two good ones.

after that ive started findsecdata on my nand4.bin and got this:

so i typed recommended commands:

nandpro.exe lpt: -w16 Patchedsecdata024C.bin 102 1
nandpro.exe lpt: -w16 Patchedfiletable0103By00F7.bin 103 1

after that i unhooked the cable from pc but left it on mobo just in case i didnt repaired hdd function, turned on the xbox, inserted disc and tried to install. and this was the result:

i believe i was among the lucky ones to easy get the positive result considering what problems do ppl have with this (yes ive read all 23 pages Cheesy), but i just wanted to share my experience with noobs like me and prove that for restoring hdd functions you only need 3 programs (nandpro 2.0b, nand compare, findsecdata, no need for hex editing). this can also serve like some kind of updated tutorial, and at the end i want to thank boby2pc the most, for making such good program, and also this forum, forum xbox scene and xboxhacker.

thank you all and now im goin to enjoy playing games from HDD

cya and good luck with restoring your HDD functions

Akiris

I'm sorry for my English...

You have two valid secdata.bins dated 2009-11-14 at blocks 38B, 182 but they are both banned I suppose looking at the date.
The previous unbanned was at block 39F but it's overwritten and You can't do anything.

propobly booted without dvd drive connected and this patch won't work. If You have propper dump then restore it and patch again.

1. there is one method based on restoring old unbannded secdata.bin. If it's overwritten then it's not possible to uncripple for now.
2. small possibility, but yes

The only soldering I have done in my life was banana plugs for a speaker panel.

That said, the lack of HD functionality after the ban was enough to make me attempt this.

On a jasper 512, I successfully recovered using the tips in this thread and boby's application.  Thank you very much.

The only problem I had was a short from a noob solder job, which got sucked away with my solder pump.

Works great in win7 x64 on my dell docking station.  Long story short, my laptop's docking station is the only thing in the house with LPT.

Hi,
can't someone compare an old secdata.bin not banned with the same secdata AFTER the ban ?

Just to know the differences...

(I have a crippled xbox with all secdata with the ban date Tongue )

One guy just shoot this on my MSN:

Is the message of "dirt disc" after a uncripple of a problem on the process or a uncrippable hdd?

As I never saw this, I'm asking for you guys!

Best regards.

Edit.

The guy just sent me his "dump" of findsecdata (0.62):

Code:
findsecdata v0.62 2009-12-09 by boby2pc
Controller version 1
Last filetable change: 0x61

nandpro.exe lpt: -w16 Patchedfiletable00F8By00F6.bin 0F8 1

Press ENTER

As far as I understood, the unbanned secdata was overwritten, right? No chance for him.

But this one I made myself for an xenon console banned on the last wave:

Code:
findsecdata v0.62 2009-12-09 by boby2pc

nandpro.exe lpt: -w16 Patchedfiletable00C2By0289.bin 0C2 1

Press ENTER

And for me this one also wouldn't get the HDD working, but it is!!!
Did I missed something or my glasses needs replacement?

Ah... I tried to find this info on the posts of this topic, but I couldn't. For a couple of times it was mentioned not to turn on the console without the dvd drive when trying to do the hdd recover. Why? Need to redump or it messes everything up?

Last filetable change will grow if you booted without dvd drive. The patch won't work then.

Dump again, run findsecdata on new dump with -rc 5 option. Run nandpro pair of commands which refers to secdata.bin file in block 24A in first nand and 283 on second nand.
