apparently, or so i've heard but haven't tested myself, wave 4 will play on 1.51 and 1.6 with activate.iso. seems half the story, APPARENTLY because of the way the firmware is made on benq and sammy or sum crap, benq and sammys with 1.51 still won't boot wave 4, i don't see how this can be true wen 1.51 was made to boot anything and everything lol. apprently 1.51 still works with hitachi and liteon wave 4 etc, and benq and sammy work with 1.6 activate.iso.... anyone know the facts for this? seeing as i run a benq on 1.51 I really can't be assed to goto 1.6 and do a activate disc... too much effort.

erm have u read the readme witht he firmware ? hitatchi 1.51 will boot a stealth disc which has any video partition hash as long as the other checks pass (adding theoretical support for wave x) and i assume the same must be for liteon. afaik, benq and sammy are proper known hashes only + exceptions, 1.6 was strict compliance only @ full speed but allowed 'any' disc to boot via a 1 off insertion of activate disc.
im not at all savvy with firmwares but have read infos and thats whats in them

All this talk only affects backups, correct? All originals will play fine regardless of wave versions, correct?

If I have my backup that is wave4 and I am pretty sure that the backup is fully stealth, should be any risk to use activate.iso with this backup? I have Jasper with Liteon, FW iX1.6, not banned for Live

Either just use your original until a new firmware comes out. or if you ripped it yourself, and haven't run it through abgx, then your a stealth as it gets. Use the activate.iso

It is still valid after the last ban wave few days ago??

Yes, nobody can say what triggers a ban. You know the risks.

You can run your own rips (shouldn't they all be?) through abgx, but there isn't a good reason to let abgx modify your rip in 'any' way if you ripped it yourself from an xbox drive.
Why will you let some database tell you what 'should' be on a legitimate disc, when you've just read it off of one yourself? It seems to me that's just a way to introduce errors if someone else makes a mistake.

For proper stealth, all the parts have to match perfectly. The original purpose of ABGX was for people who downloaded crappy game releases to verify that they had the proper stealth data in them for that game. Because, who knows the source of these games, and if they were improperly ripped or spliced together retardedly. The problem is, there is more than one 'right' version of a game, depending on different factors. So if you rip yours yourself, but it's not the same as what someone has uploaded into the database, it's not necessarily wrong. Also, the DB isn't all inclusive, it doesn't have info at all for many games. Let's not forget that due to a mistake on the DB uploaders, some people's games were 'corrected' to be a bad image: http://abgx360.net post from 2009/06/14 I used it to verify the disc for read errors, but I've never had one that XBC didn't tell me about during ripping.
