I have an xbox 360 that has the rrod and it way beyond repair.  I hope to find a new falcon to buy, and then check out the jtag hack.

If I dump the nand of my rrod xenon (fairly recent dash, haven't been on live in a month) would I be able to use one as a "dirty" flash that I wouldn't mind getting banned on, and a backup nand dump for just in case?

edit: And while I'm running around the newbie forum, as I cant seem to find it on any other forums,  when did the blocking update for the jtag hack happen?  I'm looking at refurbished 306s right now, wondering how long ago they should have been refurbished, to still work with the jtag hack.

to my understanding, that was released august 11th, so I should try find a falcon manufactured before july factoring in that they started using the new bootloader in a few consoles before the update.

Also, the cygnos Version 1 should be programmable with the 7 wire lpt thing right?  I should just be able to bust out the multimeter and figure it out.

Cygnos V1 is not compatible with the Xbox 360 unless you are using Freeboot v0.2, which requires the Cygnos V2 anyway.... you could load XBR 0.5 but it is quite buggy at the moment and may give you problems.

Ideally you want to buy a pre 849x update Xenon console, to make things as simple as possible.

Then you can extract your NAND from your RROD Xenon, then just flash the first block of the nand (KV) on your new Xenon (command: Nandpro lpt: -w16 <name of your modified nand.bin> (0000 0002)

To return back to the original kernal you simply use the above command, but with the original Kernal instead (make sure you make a backup of the original kernal, before flashing with the RROD one!)

All the best.

Dale.
