Well I have a LiteOn dvd drive that is from another console. I don't have a spear and any of that crap to extract the dvd key, so I thought maybe it could be done from xell and save me some trouble and money.
So my question is, is it currently possible?

Why wouldn't you just get it from the keyvault....?

The dvd is from my updated jasper. I'm putting it in my xenon just to get the dvd key off the LiteOn drive (since you need special equipment for that which can be pretty expensive.)

You can't, if you want to have the DVDKey of the drive you need to read it off the drive, or from the Keyvault of the corresponding mainboard (since in this case it's a jasper, this can't be done yet).
You'd probably have to buy/build the Serial interface.

I don't think "you can't" since the machine itself has to read the dvdkey from the drive inorder to see if they match.

If only there was some kind of probe to catch this key being read from the drive ...

This is too retarded to me even to begin... Go and buy a CK3 + probe...

That's not how it works, the key is never sent over anything. A session key is created on both sides that uses the drive key and another from a table. f***ing at least read before posting stupid $#!t.

Its not that stupid of a idea, Of course it wont work with liteon 7XXXX with out extra hardware and drivers but the other drives it would be possible if they made a app to dump the firmware over the sata. Or if some one ported the linux tools.
But then again its less effort just using a PC.

A better answer would be "no it can't be done", instead of calling me a f****** retard. (Also why do you think I posted this outside of the hardware/software section) Also I don't live in a country where I can get a ck3 probe delivered to me.

1, in ANY remotely secure system, valid bits of info such as keys are not transferred. They can be hashes, other keys generated from / with them making the original key impossible to derive. 2. isnt the spear thing easy enuf to make anyway ? 3. is the current way too hard ? flash nand read key, extract kv 4 what u could do is examine the code in robinsods tool / build.py and create your own xell which extracts kv and shows dvd key if u want such a simple fix
