after all he was the one that started it..3/4's of this subject is cloning his work and if not trial an errors and not off his diagrams(drifting diagrams)....
not to say some kiddy trying to make a buck off it....this $#!t is way out of hand...
It's a shame that it's gotton this far...this topic should of been split many posts ago...

More people i spoke to think this thread is going the wrong way.

Darkstar told me he doesn't mind it if someone is selling these, i personally dont have a problem personally as long as they are built correctly, they are great to have and not everyone can whip one up in an hour.

I'ts to cluttered for a Technical thread, maby we could do something like:
This thread beginning With DarkstarTM's original post and Cory's enhancements and maby Sandugas his latest schema, and that only new technical development and enhancements are added, killing noobs onsight  Smiley
An new thread somewhere else with questions building it etc. (Techincal support)
Maby even one with questions about the PIC programer?

I was searching for some info for a new enhancement and even using the search i came nowhere, and technical questions i have cannot be talked about(and yes i tried to help cluttering also)

Will PM Arakon for help.

Feel free to make me an exact list of which posts to go where. I don't have time to go through almost 700 postings.

maximilian0017,

I'm only reading 0.81v when 0xFF is set and 0.18 when 0x00 is set, so clearly my port isn't going to power the PIC. I only checked d0 and d1 but I think that's enough.

I'll go and hook up a USB cable or just take the 5v directly from a PSU molex and hopefully I'll have better luck.

Edit: It worked. I'm so happy! Thanks for your help and patience.

I still only got the Data light on in Hardware config, even though it was setup the same as sandungas's picture and the one in the PDF and the Hardware test said not responding, but it detected it fine as a 18F2550 and wrote and verified fine so I guess I'm all set for the next stage.

Does anyone have the schematic for this version?

The schematic looks the same as presented here. The layout is only for double sided smd pcb.

Topic split. Due to the forum software, the original first post had to remain with the larger thread.

This is a well know problem Smiley
You've to use the cory1492's v3b plus avaiable at http://www.xboxhacker.org/index.php?topic=13850.msg89624#msg89624
Notice that using the v3 binary of first post you won't be able to reprogram the pic using usb, either shorting the programming pins.

Bye

Well I thought I'd programmed the bootloader correctly, but now I've built the flasher, nothing happens when I connect it to my PC's USB.

I've plugged the 18F2550 back into the programmer and checked it. Settings are exactly as shown in the Art2003-LVP.pdf and if I do Detect Device it comes back with "Detected->18F2550", but if do Hardware Test it says "Hardware is not responding".

I then loaded PicXBoot.hex from PICFLASHv3bplus2 into the Code tab and did Verify All and it came back with OK to everything.

I checked the connections on the flasher and there's definitely 5v on pins 13, 20 and the non-PIC side of R1 and ground on 19 and 17 (with the jumper on) and USB pins 2 and 3 are connected to PIC pins 15 and 16 respectively. Everything else seems to be connected as it should be as well, so I really don't know why it's not working and would appreciate some help to figure it out.

Typical, just after I posted that last message it decided it was going to start working  Roll Eyes I don't know what was wrong but I've been able to flash it over USB and then I was able to install the NandPro driver for it, so everything seems alright now. Just need to get round to wiring up my 360 now to test it out properly.

Damn, I've just discovered that the ribbon cable I bought doesn't fit my connectors.

So I just wanted to check if any of these will be suitable before I waste any more money (I'm still smarting from paying Maplin 22p each for 8 1N4148 diodes I could have got from Farnell for 0.9p each if only I could have found them). I want to get solid core to make it easier to solder to the motherboard.

bummer you could of used a disk drive or a hard drive ribbon and connectors and cut the connectors striping the ribbon off you don't need , to the spec's you needed Smiley

Nice tip for next time about using disk drive ribbon. I've got loads of those sort of cables lying around. I think I still want to buy one of those multi-coloured cables though, as it will help me not to get confused when wiring to the motherboard Smiley

The worst thing about the diodes is... I ended up not needing them as my LPT power was too low, so I had to take 5v direct from the PSU! Oh well, I might be able to reuse a couple of them to JTAG my box.

Hey everyone, I'm really new to dumping and flashing the 360's nand. I got the premade usb spi flasher shown here http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a246/Grim187/usbspipcbinstall.jpg and installed it to a 3rl board (that should work to at least learn how to dump it, right?) Anyway, I got the drivers installed as suggested by the software pack that came with it to my x86 version of windows 7. I hooked the xbox up with a power brick but didn't turn it on. However, I kept getting an error in nandpro saying it couldn't detect a flash controller. The memoryaccess device is showing up correctly in the device manager. Wiring looks good, so what else could be wrong?

Hey s00pcan I had the same issue with the same flasher but I fixed it by connecting the video cable to the xbox 360.  Hope this works for you.

Yep, somehow I read that and thought it didn't apply to me, so you do need a video cable. But now I'm getting "Incompatible ARM hardware for this version of NandPro!" Searched on google, said to use nandopro 2.0a instead. I downloaded that and I'm just getting errors on every line. This is a xenon btw

Could someone just confirm that those ribbon cables I linked to will be suitable for my connectors please? I noticed that 3 of them list the Conductor Material as Tinned Copper and one just says Copper, so should I assume that the latter isn't solid core and avoid that one?
