On my console, if you don't solder the 330ohm resistors, you'll get RRoD

it is a xenon console and i dont have the 330 ohm resistors soldered in place :/

but dumping my nand managed to work without them. I've only got 0.5k (500 ohm) resistors, would those do ?

No. The voltage won't be enough i think. Get some 330ohm resistors, I can give you three

I used 430 ohm and tmbinc said up to 1 kohm SHOULD work. Without the resistors, the exploit can't work, the dumping has nothing to do with the exploit itself.

Just found out these are 1k resistors. But they didnt work. I still get E79

Maybe because i used really thin cables to extend the length of the resistors solder to the motherboard so i didnt have to solder to the motherboard multiple times, when i wanted to change the resistors ?

lol, i think im going blind, i think that was a red colour, and not orange .... so 10k resistor and not 1k Tongue  d'oh !!!!

Ill get some 330 ohm resistors 2moro.

So once, i solder the resistors in, do i need to do anything else ? (like put xenon.elf on a usb stick ?)

xenon.elf is only if you happen to have some xenon.elf (i.e. some homebrew executable).

Insert Quote

Also usefull for booting the linux live cd to get ya penguins working, as the cd doesnt appear to be able to boot much as of yet.

copy vmlinux from ya live cd onto a fat32 formatted usb stick and rename it as the xenon.elf. boot with the cd in drive (usb drive plugged in aswell) and the booting process works supreb for me here.

Many thanks to arakon for that info in an earlier post Smiley

ok that was a victory short lived. I tried flashing my xbox back to the original nand and when it reached sector 200 is said error 280, cant write to nand. So i pulled the parallel cable out (dumb thing to do) and restart the pc. Hooked it up and now i get an error saying it cant find the flash controller. Worse yet, when i disconnect it and try to power on the xbox, it wont power on at all. Its dead.

Anything i can check ? (i've got a multimeter handy Smiley

you now have a "braindead" console, so it won't turn on, and also can't trigger the mode needed to flash. you'll likely have to get a nand flasher, i.e. infectus or cygnos 2, to flash it now.

Ok i managed to get it talking to the pc again, however, when i flash it with the xenon_hacked.bin or my original nand.bin i made an image of, the xbox doesnt show any output to the screen. It just sits there, the dvd drive is disconnected, so the middle light is flashing green, however i dont get the "initiation" green lights and then it sits there for a while and after about 20 seconds, the RRoD comes on :/ hmmmmmmm

Hey! I got some problems with my own setup, when i flash xenon_hacked.bin (from xbins) to it, console allways boots to E79. I´v red the exploit readme and it says:

Quote

Q: "I get E79"
A: This means that, congratulations, your console is still booting into a
kernel, and just cannot go further (which was to be exepcted, given that
   there is no filesystem anymore).
You're almost there, but for some reasons, the DMA attack didn't run.
This can be either that you didn't used a patched SMC, or that the target
   address wasn't inserted properly.

What i have to do to make it work?

My setup:

- Infectus 2, soldered to NAND flasher mode and TA-mode. Software NAND-flasher and Downgrade Postbuss (both tried).
- Xenon Xbox 360 with 4532 and 3 330ohm res added
- CB 1888
