just look at the photos.. maybe someone can help here please!! thanks in advance Smiley
(J1D2.1 and J1D2.2 have no contact to the board except the solder point. there is some space left to the bottom. it's ~ 45° in the air which you can't see on the photo)
tmbinc told me to try it with different computers/lpt ports. but right now I don't have the chance to do so. So any idea?

I have exactly the same problem.

For all test, i tried with/without 5x100 ohm and with/without 1N914 on the board (except when i say )

1 : tried with ltp cable and a female connector (for plug'n'play)
2 : without the female connector, so cut the ltp cable and connect him directly to the resistance
3 : Shorten the ltp cable to 15 "centimètre" (google for conversion)
4 : Tried with resistance on the ltp (not directly on the board)
5 : People say me to re-wire the resistance directly on the board, because my soldering skill is not very good, so i can get better wire.

6 : In Progress > Desoldering all unused cable on the ltp connector (in the pc side, the 25 point are soldered, because i've buyed a sub db-25 male / sub db-25 male cable, not just a sub connector). Test with multimeter and post a picture on my installation (for check my new wire)

As i say before, i also tested on 3 different pc : pentium 4, 2400+ and old p2/p3, with windows 98 (with not driver except the one provided with nandpro)

And always, flash device not detected

I have the very very first Xbox 360, buyed the launch day of the 360. Never RROD, never returned to microsoft, the roll's of the 360 :p

When i post the picture, i also post the hardware used (name of pc motherboard)

Thank's to all for the help

Edit : and no, my wire are not inversed, by the way i have made the error the first time ^^

I soldered the diode to the board directly does it still matter that the black ring isn't facing the pin header hole because at this point it's gonna suck to have to redo.

of course it matters. if it's the wrong way round, it will completely block the signal.

I'll post a pic/pinout of my setup later today

The pinout is documented in the nandpro readme so I wont bother with that.  Here is my setup, its not much to look at.  I installed headers onto the motherboard for conveince.

Redline, that looks very organized!
Can you tell us where you got those headers and connection cables from?

Really nice look, and with the olimex Smiley
It seems that the connectors are "recicled" (i need them... are much better than the pins i used)

Ahh Good news!! Smiley

That is what i meant with looking at the numbers on the connector, they are always right(exept for one dudes freaky pc?!?!)

And thanks for reporting back

I dumped it two times now.

1st had 16Bad Pages with SPP Mode
2nd had 0Bad Pages with Bi-Directional Mode

(Empty Pages is 1427 on both. Both of them have the Microsoft copyright on the top)

Is it recommended to dump it a few times more even if the 2nd backup has 0 PB ? Or is this a 100% valid dump which will work definately ?

thank you!

EDIT dumped it again. still 0 BP. compared dump 2 and 3. 100% match. 1st one with SPP mode is different... many blocks with 0000..
(Dump 3 also read with Bi-Directional mode) -> Will try ECP/EPP later this day

EDIT 2: Here is what I built to easily dump the NAND. Has some improvements unlike the cat5-method. the screws of the db9 fit perfectly into the metal case. here you can see my mod..

I given up with the first xbox, got xell booting but rrod eventually came back.
Tried to do a second box, dumped 5 times. 1st had 5 bad pages, no bad blocks. Other 4 had 0 bad pages or blocks.
Flashed new and old xell to it but just get green led and no tv output. So I flashed one of the dumps i thought was ok and it flashed the first few blocks then every block after failed to write, took over an hour to get to the end. Weird

Here my new installation, resistance directly on the xbox motherboard, and a cable of 15 "centimètre". You can view my wire, not so good, but better that the old one. Not work more, the only thing i can try is to remove all unecessary cable from the sub db-25, and check with multimeter

If you have other idea ...

Please make a few more zoomed in pictures of:
backside connector
Solderpoints xbox motherboard

Testing with a Multimeter is always a good thing.

kind of a noob-need some help

well i am planning to flash my falcon nand in the future(yes i know tiros hasent published anything about falcon boards Yet) and i want to do it using a usb interface -i am planning to use one of these

http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-2-0-Full-Speed-LPC...id=p3286.c0.m14

http://cgi.ebay.com/USB2-0-LPC2148-Module-...p3286.m20.l1116

1)now i was wondering-will it work?with both of them?i preffer the cheaper one.
2)and if it does work how do i flash the hex file to it?what program to use?
3)i know the soldering points on the mobo but i need to know the points on lpc2148-this specific one i mean cause i saw the pinout for the omilex one ?and more important will it work with all mobos?xenon'zypher'falcon'jasper?
4)can i use this Buffered LPT schematic for the NAND? http://www.xboxhacker.net/index.php?topic=12257.0
so i will have the mobo wired to this thing and this thing wierd to the lpc2148?
5)and one last q-what are the general applications for these type of boards?i mean what else can i do with it if i buy it cause its kind of expensive and ebay is the only place that i found someone selling it using paypal

i know i ask alot but thanks
by the way my soldering skills are excellent so no problems there
to bad my english is kind of bad

Impossible to see on the foto's but please try to remove all the unnessesary wires, good chance you will find the problem then(at least if you did not measure first, than you probably would have found the problem already)

 Huh
Iis there anything besides flashing either NewXell.bin or Xenon_hack.bin or the new Xenon_1921hack.bin and soldering the 330 ohm resistors to the Jtag/smc connection you have to do to make it boot into the blue xell screen ?

I'm real lost here Ive tried them all on numerous boxes and always get an E79
CB1903 CD1888 should those pre made for xenon files work with that combo or do I need to wait for a 1888 or 1903 release?
I think anoter was CB1902 CD1888 ?

When I am flashing I use the command nandpro lpt: -w16 NewXell.bin  and am flashing them directly to the dash that is on it.
Is there something ZI am doing wrong here ?
Please any help or ideas etc are greatly appreciated.

isn't newxell.bin ONLY the xell binary, but not the actual nand flash? you have to flash xenon_hack.bin to a xenon board and have the resistors in place.

Actually, NewXell.bin from Xbins is the full nand flash WITH the new DCHP-supported XeLL iirc.

ah, ok.. maybe some sort of better naming would be useful for updated files.

Huh

Without the JTAG LINK  *or* the hacked southbridge program you will get E79 all the time. E79 means the kernel part of your image is fine. The CPU did boot.
If you have wrong Cx you will get no video at all and 0022 on RoL.

If you are using the image from xbins, it should work as long the 3 wires for JTAG are connected right. Remember, a wrong CB will give you RRoD.
