Questioning someone elses competence over no clear reason, makes the one that questions the other incompetent himself.

To simply say that all people that said that the drive with new fw can be flashed are n00bs that don't have the drive with the new fw is simply stupid behaviour. Even on XBH n00bs take an account and can post nonsense. But the last poster just said he flashed one of these and confirmed the missing serial data.

So I guess my post was spot on. Why do you trust just that one guy that only could get half a key? Your reading seems rather focussed on one posts you pick yourself as being legit, while I like to base an assumption on multiple findings and confirmation.

did i not call this dude who supposively got a half key, a possible german dumbnut? so what you on about

if you read the posts now in the thread on X-S in which you think many people are credible for what they say (whether they are noobs who haven't even checked the drive label but thought to have a 83850 f/w just because they had missing serial information) , you can draw a different conclusion.. a more thought through conclusion

Quote
"Do you honestly think they will leave it open / exploitable on a new f/w revision? Really?

i call bullocks on this new f/w.. and if it's not bs, the key cannot be dumped and current lite-on firmware will not work since firmware would need spoofing

it's obvious trusting X-S noobies confirmation as your legit conclusion makes you incompetent

here's a beauty:
Quote
I've actually flashed about 5 of these

Quote
Did you actually check the firmware itself?

Serial has nothing to do with FW.

Quote
ahh ok, nah didn't physically check the 83850. Just thought it might have been. Will check next one I come across though. Have you come across any in melb yet? All I know is I haven't come across any unmoddables

edit: well there's 3 drives on the way to the experts. it's confirmed drive key cannot be dumped and current hacked lite-on firmware does not work

I was wondering how do you swap a xbox 360 dvd rom that has a modded samsung drive with a new benq drive? I keep having problems with my sammy  not reading disc in the matter of months?

Wrong section. Take the BenQ dump, change the drivekey to the one the Samsung have, and then spoof the benq firmware to Samsung.

-

By the way, I have received a liteon with firmware 83850c in the mail today. The one I got seems like having an identical board with the older ones:

Well. Kidding... not really. I said, did you try to dump it ? (I obviously don't mean decapping and stuff, just the 'regular' liteon 'dump'). Since you've really got one and I kinda trust you more than the half-assed modders over at x-scene, you could give us a more accurate description of the behaviour you're getting when trying to dump the key/inquiry/ident info.

You simply cannot logically dump the firmware, just like any other liteon drives. The drive is stuck in 0x51 or 0xD1 (I think)

your mistake...

$#!t, just tell us whether you can dump key.bin, inquiry.bin and identify.bin that's all anyone is asking...

if you can, tell us what equipment your using, take a few more snaps of the drive and try to flash it - simple

Gigabite, either way, I CAN'T DUMP IT!
Do you not understand?

I have tried the probe, spear, and my homemade dumper... nothing

if you had just posted this from the start you would have 100% answered idog's original question. prevented gigabite from banging his head up against the top off his computer desk. silently stopped my from banging my head up against the wall. refrained from idog having to reclarify his question, and saved this whole thread some clutter.

im just a 3rd party observer and honestly could give 2 $#!ts. but dude, your train of thought is just like, different from everyone elses. its like you know the answer in your head but the answer you put down on paper is something just totally f***ed up. think simpler man.  Cheesy

lol well bottom line: i was not able to dump it, nor the inquiry strings and keys and etc. I was able to erase the drive, and it is flashable. That's all I can confirm for now.

right, now we are getting somewhere (to bad you erased it)...what is your homemade adapter made out of/from ? do you have access to a "proper" RS232 ?

p.s nice comment in your sig, it's "acceptable" for my age but I would have expected more  Roll Eyes oh well

hold the phone........this just ticked over in my head, you said, you can't dump it...then you erased it, so you effectively just made 1 dvd player ?

serial can be dumped fine on this drive, only problem is key comes back all 0000.. possibly a new key location

anyhow the first "new" lite-on mucked up on the decapping process

like last Liteon 9 had to be decapped, where 4 of them went to the bin

so start sending these drives to the real experts if you want it hacked... not erase for the fun of it

I just flashed one for a customer, I didn't even notice it was the new one till I went to dump everything and it said something about bad information, I had to pull the DVD drive apart and enter information manually, except for that, everything was identical, hooked it back up and tested everything, it worked fine, no error, nothing...everything worked fine....(I actually ended up here looking for information on the new drive)....

GIGABYTE:
You idiot, read what i just said. I got this drive in the mail NOT THE ENTIRE XBOX.The guy who sent it to me doesn't need it anymore. Besides, a colleague that lives in the states also have a similar drive. He knows about chip decapping, and he told me that he is going to attempt to dump it.
My max3232 convertor works fine, i've been using it to dump at least 10 drives before the probe was created

this is what makes me believe that it's just retards that can't dump it....there isn't enough "proper" information and/or conclusions made on this drive to be able to determine anything even remotely useful at all. and .ISO regardless of whether you just got the PCB or the whole friggen Xbox if you erased the drive's firmware that means you lost the key (since you said you can't dump it), so when I asked if you just made a DVD player...the answer would be yes gigabite  - god there is so much $#!t to cut through, and no, i'm not trying to start anything
