Another success story:
I have a 250Gb WD Scorpio 2500 BEVS LBA 488397168 manufactured on May 20th, 2009. I used hddhackr version 1.30 to flash it. At the first attempt I did run the tool in mode "F", and followed the instructions at the beginning of this post. After the flash the tool didn't create the 0/2/3 partition. So I figured I'd reboot my computer and try again in C mode (after backing up the UNDO.BIN file to make sure it'd be in a safe place). The partition could then be created but my XBox slim wouldn't see the drive. I assumed that the second reboot modified the LBA so I flash a second time. This time I didn't try to create the partitions on my PC, but I turned off my PC and plugged the hdd into the XBOx. The XBox did see the disk, but was stating only 130Mb were free. I used the XBox to format the disk (I had to enter the serial number), and then I ended up with a 227Gb free disk.
Many thanks to the team for their efforts.

Just successfully used hddhackr 1.30 and 120gb hddss.bin on a WD1600BEVE.. yes thats not a typo, a PATA Scorpio with a SATA-PATA adapter! Formatted it on the 360 and installed a game and it runs fine!

Hi, I've used this wonderful program to flash a couple of WD VelociRaptor and they're working very fine. Now I'm just wondering about the next generation, SSDs. If I'm not wrong, WD produced only one SSD series and in my country isn't even available.
I ask if it is, or will be, possibile in some way to flash an SSD (WD or, better, other brands) like HDDs. There is a technical reason that make it impossible? Firmware type or internal chipsets? Last question: is available an alternative prog that achieve this?
Thank you all in advance, greetings.

Ok, I am now STUUUUUUUMPED!
HDDHACKR was NOT working for me once it switched from .COM format to .EXE format. I could live with that, except 0.91 didn't support partitioning. But, i was able to "apparently" flash my WD5000BEVT to the 320 GB HDDSS.BIN File, except it would not show up in XBOX (probably because i couldn't partition). It said it should work in the 360, i turned off computer for 10 seconds, reflashed as per instructions to check , and again, it said should work. But it didn't
NOW all of a sudden, the 1.3 HDDHACKR IS WORKING! sort of.
I type HDDHACKR F 8038 A0 HDDSS.bin UNDO.bin, and it says "SECTOR CHECKSUM <0921> in file HDDSS.bin is Wrong!" F*&@!!!! So, I tried the 250 BG HDDSS.bin, thinking the 320GB downloaded improperly. Came up with "SECTOR CHECKSUM <0778> in file HDDSS.bin is wrong!"
WTF is the problem now lol? Are these .BIN files corrupted? How can it flash the file using 0.91, but not 1.3?

Hi all, I have a spare Hitachi 320Gb HDD and I have tried everything to let it work. Could anyone tell me why this isn't working? (BTW I cannot use HDDHACKR because I cannot enable the right settings in the BIOS, sony is rubbish at giving options)
I have tried flashing the HDDSS.bin on sector 16 and I have created partitions 0, 2 and 3 manually from some hex editor. I have also tried backing up the content of the partitions from a working 20Gb hard drive. After attempted all of this, I made a low level format of the hard drive and flashed the secure sector copied from the 20Gb hdd but this still didn't work.
Does anyone have more suggestion on what to do? additionally, I have seen that the HDDSS binaries contain the hard drive name so I am guessing there is some kind of failed checksum when I put the HDD in the xbox. I am quite sure I had created the partitions correctly as the Xplorer 360 was able to: a) recognise the hard drive in FATX format b) recognise the partitions.
I mean, this could be potentially extended to other hard drives, it is worthwhile giving it a try.

Just the security sector does nothing, as the encrypted data in the sector has to match the actual drive serial and model numbers. You'd have to rewrite that data on the drive itself.. good luck with that. If all it took was the security sector, there would've been a solution for all drives a long time ago.

Attacking the HDDSS is pointless, due to being signed. Although there are tools for changing your drive serial number for almost every drive out there, the problem is they are expensive and hard to obtain (in a working state). For example: http://www.chinahdd.cn/hdd/WDR/WDR-DEMO.zip Its for WD drive only AND IT CAN DESTROY YOUR DRIVE, handle with care only. There are similar tools for other drives, just use some creativity.

google is your friend you can find the hdss files on there
there is no 160gb hdss, you will have to use the 120gb one and lose 40gb of storage on the drive.

Just hacked a 2011 WD2500BEKT successfully! Simply flashed the correct HDDSS, and made the partitions with hddhackr. Had to reformat it on my xbox because it only had 33GB of free space though, but after the format it had the full cap of 250GB. Thanks a lot!

I am having the same problem with hddhackr not responding when I put in the command. I have followed these among other tutorials to the letter and everytime I boot into BIOS, type "hddhackr," the cursor just moves down one line, and idles with no hddhackr menu coming up. I have tried this on two different laptops, the second one having the sata configuration option available, and setting it the IDE mode, but still nothing. I have even tried using earlier versions of the hddhackr program, but to no avail...please help!!!

I flashed the 320SS.BIN to my Western Digital 500GB (WD5000BPVT), but now would like to restore the original HDDSS.BIN on it, cause I wont use it in my XBOX anymore. The problem is, that I accidentally deleted the backup.bin file. Is there somebody using a WD 500GB HDD as well, and have saved the backup.bin file?! I would be very thankful for it, my email: valegrande46@gmail.com

You've been warned, use it as it is or sell it.
