I am having the same problem as nemesis4444. I have a brand new WD2500BEVT manufactured Oct. 19, 2010. I have tried HDDHACKR with the drive connected to a Via VT6421A card, an Intel P965 Express mobo with ICH8R and an AMD 780G mobo with SB700. I have ensured that all SATA ports were running in native mode with RAID or AHCI disabled. I have tried HDDSS.BIN files I've found for the 250GB hard drive from 3 different places on the net including the one from xbins. I've tried HDDHACKR v1.24 and a few earlier versions as well. All combinations fail with the same error: "Bad/Wrong Modelnumber offset!" This is extremely frustrating. Can anybody help please?

Seriously, nobody has any insight into this problem? I've tried flashing my new WD2500BEVT on every motherboard and SATA adapter I can get my hands on all with the same result: "Bad/Wrong Modelnumber offset!" I know very well how to disable RAID and make sure its running in IDE or native mode as well. This isn't my first time to the HDDHACKR rodeo either. I've successfully done this mod on several WD Scorpios in the past. I am certain at this point after numerous attempts with this drive on several different platforms combined with similar experiences of others recently in this thread that I am not doing anything wrong. I think it's a pretty safe bet that Western Digital is doing something different with these drives as of October 2010 that is keeping HDDHACKR from working correctly with them. Support needed to be added to HDDHACKR in the past for new revisions of these drives. It seems like HDDHACKR needs another update if this mod is to remain viable in the future. Will this matter will be looked into?

I don't mean to sound rude or anything. It's just frustrating to see that the only feedback I've been able to find anywhere on this matter is always basically telling the user that they're doing something wrong when I know that's not the case in this instance.

** Notes **
-------------
- HDDHackr is made only for real MS-DOS, not for windows command prompt or even windows XP/Vista/7 !!!!

- 99% of problems appear to be Mainboard chipset (SATA Chipset) or some BIOS configurations (RAID, AHCI, LegacyIDE, ...), not HDDHacker app!!

If you have "Bad/Wrong Modelnumber offset!" error, so please send me the UNDO.BIN file.
Maybe a new HDDHackr update is indeed needed.

I have WD2500BEVT manufactured on 19 Oct 2010 as well.  I get the Bad/Wrong Modelnumber offset! error as well.  I can send you my Undo.bin file as well if that'd help at all.  Thanks for the help

ok thx for the new WD undo.bin files.

found why "Bad/Wrong Modelnumber offset! error" appears.

here is new version with better Modelnumber detection.

(v1.25)
* Extended Modelnumber String detection
(new hard drives have two Modelnumber strings)

wait for results....

I just tested it as well and it works great!  Flashed it easily and then threw it in my xbox slim.  Showed up right away!  Thanks so much for the help and the quick reply!

I used v1.25 today and upgraded from a 20GB to a 250GB. Everything went flawlessly, and I can't believe how intensely easy this was to do. It took longer to remove the Torx screws with a terrible T6 driver than it did to flash the drive. I can't tell you how incredibly satisfied I am with it, thanks so much for writing this program!

Hi, I am so lost I have been reading alot on how to mod your hardriver to work with my xbox 360 4g slim. I am noobing out over here. LOL! Just confused. I have Western Digital Scorpio Black WD2500BEKT 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 2.5" and Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD2500BEVT 250GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5". Both drives had never been used. Can you please share your mind with me? I want to run one of these hardrives on my xbox 360 slim under dos. Give me some directions to get this done. I download your HDDHackr 1.25. So I just install one of the drives to my PC and then run dos and then.....

Do I need this Use Bootable USB Drive Creator Tool to prepare USB drive???

Couple of ppl are telling too many differnet things on how to get this done. Any info would be great! Thanks!!!

SO LOST! LOL! Need someones hand....

Either drive will work fine but the 7200 RPM Scorpio Black likely won't give you any noticeable advantage over the slower Scorpio Blue. I've always used Scorpio Blues, they work great. If I were you I'd use the Scorpio Blue for the Xbox and save the Scorpio Black for something else that would take advantage of the extra speed.

Follow this guide to get your drive set up. It's very easy to follow.
http://digiex.net/guides-reviews/console-guides/xbox-360-guides/3152-xbox-360-how-hack-250gb-sata-drive-work-xbox-360-xbox-360-slim.html

And yes you will need to use the Bootable USB Drive Creator and I recommend you use MS-DOS instead of Free DOS.

Why are you trying to dump the WD drive? You can only dump the sectors of an Xbox360 drive.

Hello,

Thanks for your hard work, but I am having some trouble over here. First off I am running Win7 x64, can I use HDDHackr with this OS? I am trying to experiment with the program and see if I can get this to work with my WD Scorpio Blue WD3200BEVT (320GB 5400rpm 8MB). I have an old 20GB model from a previous Xbox360 as well. If I am limited to 250GB that is fine, but I just wanted to make sure that this is going to work in my situation. Can someone help me out?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I just noticed that you need to boot to the HDDHackr. I will figure this out myself. Excuse my ignorance >.<
I guess my main question is: Can I use the 320GB HDD in my XBox360 Slim? If so, can I use any specific files from my previous 20GB HDD so that I do not get banned from XBox Live? Thanks again.

Using a modded hard drive won't get you banned from live and besides, the only thing you could get from your old 20GB drive to help you is the security sector which will for all practical purposes turn your 320GB drive into a 20GB drive. You should be able to use a 320GB BEVT drive fine but you will be limited to only having 250GB available.

I've seen arguments back and forth about getting banned, but it has been confirmed that hacking a HDD will NOT get you banned?
If so, then could you link me to the correct tutorial on how to do this, please?

Thanks again.
