Hi guys, i'm from italy so forgive me if my english is not perfect. Neways, i Have a P5QC Motherboard with a ICH10R Chipset.
I tried to mod a wd2500bevs but at the moment hddhackr started to write the firmware it said "Can't write firmware". Now my HDD is recognised by BIOS (but if i enter into the bios it freeze up) as a SATA IDE HARD DISK with no name. In facts if i try to reflash HDDSS.BIN the drive informations don't have Manufacturer Name.
Manufacturer Name: (It is Empty) Serial Number: It is the right of the WD2500 Firmware. 01.01A01.
I tried to restore the UNDO.BIN. It says that it worked fine but when i reboot the pc the HDD is still unnamed... Help?

After hours of trying to flash my WE2500BEVS I finally looked at the physical drive and saw that it was actually a BEVT. Don't know why the box has different model number on it but this isn't the main reason mine could not be flashed. It was manufactured in 2010 so I'm guessing I have to wait for the next update to hddhackr, hopefully it won't be long.
Update: The problem wasn't my drive after all it was in fact my sata controller. I used hddhacker 1.22 in another computer with onboard sata with nvidia chipset and the procedure went flawlessly. Thanks for all the input.

Just like the user above, I tried hours to flash the drive, and it always says "No ATA identify possible" or "No ATA devices present". I am too using a WD2500BEVT and it is manufactured in january 2010. Is this the reason it doesn't work? I didn't know that it matters, but when I saw the changelog "added support for (...) manufactured in 2009" and the post above, I thought that might be the case. I hope there comes an update that will enable me to flash this drive. I would hate it if I would have spent the money in vain, cause I don't have that much.

Hello!
I've got a problem too.. mine is ah WD3200BEVT and manufactured in nov2009. Hddhackr (1.22) finds it perfectly. It always says when trying to backup "sector offset <0000> is wrong" (or something similar don't remember exactly:)"
Any clue what this could be? Thank you! Solved: already tried what i read in a previous post, just doing the update and then it works and it automatically creates a backup of the orignal firmware!

I just flashed my wd2500bevt from Jan 2010 without problems. My disk LBA was 488397168. I used HDDHACKR 1.22 automatic mode on AMD 785GM chipset board. I ignored the message that hddss.bin checksum is different from the sector.

Hi everyone, I just bought a WD2500BEVT made in december 2009 and when i try to use hddhackr to flash the firmware in auto mode, it says "no ATA identify possible" . Some says this can be fixed by using the manual mode, but it asks for the number of the port. How do I get that hex number ? And btw, can this be caused by something else ? If yes, what could it be ?

Just found out I bought a Chinese knockoff drive off of ebay. It seems to be missing partition 2 required for backward compatibility. I opened up the case and found they are using a recertified 250GB Magnetic Data Technolgies drive:
MD02500-AVDW-R0 5400RPM ATA300 8MB BUF Date 20 FEB 2010 DID VT00ZCT02500BE
I believe all MDT drives are refurbished drives from other major manufacturers. Does anyone know if this is a Western digital drive, and if so, what series? I want to use this tool be able to write partition 2. If these aren't WD drives, the chinese must have their own tools to copy the Microsoft partitions.

I didn't get any feedback last time so I thought I would try this again. Here is my issue:
My 120G drive was working fine in my 360 but when I tried to copy my son’s info from his 20G drive I ended up copying the partition. After that the 360 would recognize it anymore. I thought I would just rezap the firmware and reformat the drive on the 360 but I accidently put the firmware for my son’s 20G drive into my 120G drive. Now I can’t get it to work worth a darn. When I try to restore the firmware it tells me the file size doesn’t match. If I try to flash it it errors out because it can’t read the drive to create and Undo.bat. Is there a way to force the drive to accept the flash without doing the data file size check?
I played with it somemore and I really think it would work if there was a way to bypass the creation of the undo.bin file. Is there a way to make it skip the undo and to just flash the drive without checking the file size?
Update: I tried the so called “Brute Force” method but this had little affect as it still gave me the message that the files size doesn’t match. Well I know it don’t match, I flashed the wrong file in it, that is why I am trying to flash it again… Anyway, if anyone knows of a command switch or something that will help me bypass this I would sure appreciate the help. I am still having issues with this. Any ideas on how to keep this from checking the undo.bin size?

Got a bit of a weird one, here. I used hddhackr on a WD2500BEVT drive with no problems, it went successfully. The (unmodified) 360 sees the drive and lets me transfer some content to it, but it will NOT allow me to update the 360, the update fails every time. When I try to format it, it often spits out an error. I managed to get it to format once, but this didn't help. It's weird, it shows all of the various folders the 360 has (Profiles, demos, etc.) and it SEEMS to let me put content onto it, but it just doesn't want any kind of update data (tried updating from both live and a USB pen I KNOW works ok).
I'm completely formatting the drive in windows now to see if that helps. Quick formats would spit out an error saying "not completed" so I'm thinking it might be a bad drive?

I had the exact same problem with two drives. One of them worked for a while - the other always failed like yours. After ruining one hard drive out of sheer madness I have found what causes the problem: the knock off hard drive case. Their quality leaves a bit to be desired. I guess the resistance of the wires is not always the same (or length, etc.) and this is what causes the error you mentioned. Buy an other hard drive case from dx or wherever you got one, and replace. It will work for sure!

I managed to actually get it working. This is what I did:
I performed a FULL format on the drive (Actually, I only formatted about 1/3 of it, I'm impatient). Then I threw the HDD into a JTAG'd 360 and let that format it. Right away, I thought I was on to something because I was able to apply the 9199 Avatar files to the HDD without a problem. So I flashed the HDDSS.bin file to the drive and DID NOT opt to let it create the partitions (let the JTAG do that). Plugged the HDD into the regular (unmodified) 360 and hey presto - it all works. TUs, Updates, HDD installs, all going fine. Not sure which fixed it, between letting a "proper" 360 (i.e. the JTAG) format it over hddhackr, or the format, but all is well.
Having a JTAG is bloody handy, fixing the Xbox1 compatibility partition was a cinch thanks to it =D

Just wanted to share my experience w/ hddhackr... Great work i might say...Thanks This is the drive used( mfg-April 2010)Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD2500BEVT 250GB to flash w/hddhackr in auto mode which didn't work at first but changed different sata port and work great, followed all question hddhackr was asking until it said turn off computer for 10 sec and then rebooted it up on the computer again i never got the message that it should work on the x-360,got scared so i put it in my x-360 and it was good to go (working), i didn't have to format it on the x-360, it was perfect.I thought it would've said unformatted but it didn't..

I tried to restore my WD2500BEVT -00A23T0 firmware 01.01A01 with an undo.bin from a WD1200BEVT -00A23T0 firmware 01.01A01 by accident. In addition, I forgot to turn the power off for 10 seconds after it said successful flash. Now I get the dreaded status 0x10. Trying to use the brute force recovery method I get the following statuses after disconnecting the power and powering it back on again. 0x90, 0x80, 0x01 (only for a blink of an eye), 0x10 status 0x10 is for { SectorIdNotFound }. The hard drive is not detected on system boot-up anymore. hddhackr does detect a hdd on the sata port its connected to but with a blank name, size etc. I decided to try an earlier version. v1.0 doesn't detect anything on sata port now. When trying to recover at the commandline it says file undo.bin is wrong size for both 250 & 120 00A23T0 undo.bins BUT it will try (but fails with can't send vendor specific WD flash intro to HDD) to flash with any size 22ZCT0/00ZCT0 firmware 11.01A11 undo.bins. I tried a 60,120 and 250.
Anyone find a fix for status 0x10 yet?
