I am using hp6810us laptop with vista 32 bit with an amd x2 Turion. I could not find a way to get it to boot to ms-dos. I can type command.com and get what looks like ms-dos and hddhackr seems to work. it does not detect the drive in enhanced mode and trys legacy, and still no luck. I am using a brand new wd2500bevs blue in a usb laptop enclosure . I also have initiated the hard drive thinking that was the problem. Any idea's? I am starting to go crazy over this.

Thanks

vista doesn't matter. a bootable USB stick/CD launches before vista is even started, it would even work if you didn't have ANY OS on the computer.

hddhackr is made only for real MS-DOS, not for windows command prompt or even windows Vista

use Bootable USB Drive Creator Tool to prepare USB drive

Will the "Bootable Usb drive creator tool" work with my vista laptop? Also, can I still use my bevs hard drive that I initialized already? I am also using the usb enclosure, will that cause any problems?

Thanks again.

I doubt hddhackr even looks at USB drives, let alone have a driver to detect them under DOS. besides that, I doubt an USB adapter will transfer all the special commands. Use a desktop PC and save yourself a lot of trouble.

once again: the OS does NOT matter if you use a bootable usb stick.

HddHackr v1.20 is out. (see first post)

Problems with Intel and VIA chipsets are fixed now! (Thanks to Schtrom)
Also we add support for 80GB and 250GB HDDs, correct HDDSS.BIN is required

People with misflashed hard drives should try out the following:

* Vendor Intro Power Brute for misflashed drives *
To enter the recovery mode you should boot to MS-DOS, connect your hard drive to PC and type
'HDDHACKR R [PORT] A0 UNDO.BIN'. If the hard drive is misflashed you will be prompted with:
"Western Digital Vendor Intro failed on port [PORT]"
"Do you want to resend the command until the drive responds (Y/N)?"
Press YES, disconnect the hard drive from power and connect it again.
You should get Status 0x50 and the drive will be reflashed.

It work not for me Sad

I type HDDHACKR R 7C00 A0 UNDO.BIN and click Yes to resend command. It type staus 0X10 and i power the drive off and the status is 0X90 so i power the drive on agin and its now go back to staus 0x10 and nothing hapen. This is whit a VIA chipset.
I had try whit a Nforce chipset to, it say first staus 0x10 and now i power the drive off it say staus 0x90 and now i power it on agin i say first 0x80 and go back to 0x10

ok this drive is 100% recoverable, perhaps we have to tweak the "Vendor Intro Power Brute" a little bit.

tell me the chipset type and hard drive model names.

Thanks for the usb boot. My desktop is a hp m9252p. Using the desktop and using hddhackr v1.2 . I can now run hddhackr, but I get this screen

HDDHACKR [C|D|F|R] [PORT] [DRIVE POS] [SECTOR FILE] [RESTORE FILE]
                       C: Create Partitions 0/2/3
D: Dump sector 16-22 from XBOX360 HDD to file
                       F: Flash Western Digital firmware
                       R: Restore Western Digital firmware
PORT: Port to send command to e.g. 09F0
DRIVE POS: A0 for Master, B0 for Slave
SECTOR FILE: Sector dump file e.g. HDDSS.BIN
RESTORE FILE: Firmware restore file e.g. UNDO.BIN

Example for create, dump, flash and restore:
HDDHACKR C 09F0 A0
HDDHACKR D 09F0 A0 HDDSS.BIN
HDDHACKR F 09F0 A0 HDDSS.BIN UNDO.BIN
HDDHACKR R 09F0 A0 UNDO.BIN

I type hddhackr -f and it does nothing. What am I doing incorrectly. Angry

Thanks again

I tried to mod my 160gb drive with the 120gb hddss.bin, but it stopped being recognized by the bios. So when I boot into DOS it doesn't continue, meaning it won't allow me to actually get to the hddhackr. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a way to fix it? It's a wd1600bevs-00vat0 Scorpio blue.

My 120G drive was working fine in my 360 but when I tried to copy my son’s info from his 20G drive I ended up copying the partition.  After that the 360 would recognize it anymore.  I thought I would just rezap the firmware and reformat the drive on the 360 but I accidently put the firmware for my son’s 20G drive into my 120G drive.  Now I can’t get it to work worth a darn.  When I try to restore the firmware it tells me the file size doesn’t match.  If I try to flash it it errors out because it can’t read the drive to create and Undo.bat.  Is there a way to force the drive to accept the flash without doing the data file size check?

You aren't typing in the command completely.

Note the set example:
HDDHACKR F 09F0 A0 HDDSS.BIN UNDO.BIN

You need to supply a port, and the input/output.

So I have done the same thing that GuffeDK has and I got the same errors as he has. What should I do now? Is it an issue that the drive spins up then makes a clicking noise, and repeats that one other time? It only started doing that after the drive was misflashes. Worked perfect before.
