im a little anxious flashing hitachi with JF... there seems to be modders, that never bricked hitachi but now brick them quite easily. especially this one dude who was flashing for 2-3 years, done over 100 drives, never had one brick, but now with JF he bricked a v47 and v79 in one day.
i'm waiting for flashix.bat, and updated FWTB48 (suppose updated fw/tb isn't coming)

i have flashed, restored, and reflashed using jf and havent had a problem yet. using an nforce board.

All the parts were in and the pc is assembled and working Smiley Great, very satisfied... except... no com1 port  Undecided

According to the documentation there is no onboard com1 connector as well, so I'll have to go with a usb adapter I'll guess.
How's JF working nowadays ? Any usb com1 adapter will work or is it picky ?

as long as it's listed in your hardware management, the COM port will work in JF as well

i just bought a CK3 Pro, since my motherboard did not have COM port on the i/o plate... neither did it have onboard vga (are they just leaving out component now-a-days?)

on board VGA, ha ha - you got to be kidding me that's olllllld now  Tongue that board iirc (asus site is down) does not have any com ports but you sounded like you were more interested in gaming rather then Xbox 360 flashing ha ha, and you can pick up a USB thing for like $30 (US) and even for me and my ancient flashing PC I can read the key in Windows (though I always use DOS, just tried once in Windows) - I really love that board, 100% good choice there...

I'll go after a usb thingie then, or just go for the CK3 like Jelle has. Both options are cool I guess Smiley
And yeah, the board is great. Getting the boxed cpu fan on it was a crime though, whoever invented those clip/screws should be shot. But works a charm. FEAR2 and Crysis in fullhd res rock Smiley

ha ha I knew you would do that : p the USB thing (USB > TTL Converter) is the same as a CK3 except cheaper (even though it's still a bit of a rip off) and works the same etc just to let you know...  Wink

Small update. The CK3 pro with probe came in Saturday, just had to install the usb driver for the usb-serial and today I tested with 4 different drives (Hit47 (was previously flashed so had to restore that as well), MS28, Benq and a Liteon) and all flashed perfectly and without rebooting the pc Smiley

Great stuff, thanks again  Cheesy
