Switching 360 dvd Drives

Ok, so i got this pos 360 from my uncle, was over heating for him etc. i got it running to the point where it wouldn't overheat and got to the dashboard.

Now, my problem is that the original dvd drive in it wouldn't spin the discs. so i cleaned the motor out, checked the magnet thing and nothing. The drive is a Hitachi.

So, i got another working drive free from a friend, it is a samasung/toshiba or something like that. It plays dvd's but not games obviously 

Now my question is, how do i get the new drive to work with the 360? I read something about keys, but would i still be able to get the key off the original drive, and i would need a desktop with sata plug ins, correct?

(Noob to 360's.. just starting to learn)

Theres no certain way to do it? for different drives

the certain way, is the only way we all take if we're spoofing drives

like chickenpie explains. now search / read on internet there's enough information how to do this.
