Hello
I was wondering if i take my premium xbox 360 which has a Hitachi drive and my buddy has a core 360 with a Samsung drive, if i take his samsung out and put it in mine will everything work ok? Or is this something that cannot be done

You will have to flash both drives with the right key. It might be easyer to just swap motherboards or the whole xbox. Otherwise you will have to figure out how to get the hitachi reconized in windows and dump the firmware then flash it back with flashsec.

IS there a way to tell if you buy a new 360 what drive it has before purchasing it?

Edit: You can read the lot # through the box so if you buy the right lot # theres a good chance you will get a sammy. And don't open box when you get it home, compare the tray and bring it back if its the wrong drive. Make sure to buy from somewhere that will take it back with no questions.
