Hi,

I wanted to flash my samsung ms-25 using the pin-trick (3(gnd)-12 (12v)), but it won't get recognised by windows,
so i unplugged everything from de computer and tried it again on xbox. Xbox tray won't get open, so i opend it manualy, putted and official game and closed it manualy again. Game spinned and worked.
Then I tried again to flash the console this time using pin-trick but this time with 4(as grnd) and 12 (12v).
This thime the console stuck in B mode, The center green led keeps flashing. but this time putting a game into the drive manualy doesn't works. But as i put the drive in an other console and eject it works fine, so i'm pretty sure the drive is clean.

HELP ...

samsung doesnt have a "mode b", that is only hitachi drives. im not sure what pin trick youre talking about but if the green led is flashing on the console there is a possibility you killed the drive. use dosflash32. no tricks required.

this sounds like you shorted out the drive and fried it, if you connected 12V to GND.

nope drive works fine with other console (at least i see laser ok , and tray opens and close)

pin trick is instead of the connectivity kit, you've got the supply to the drive

like   11  9 7 5 3 X
       12 10 8 6 4 X

x - nothing
3 (gnd for eject, use spdt)
4 3.3v (gnd for mode B)
5,7,9,11 GND
6 3.3v
8 5v
10-12 12v

pin trick is only to be used very carefully on hitachi drives excluding v78 and79, these drives are flashed live as they are forced into a service mode called b mode , making them able to be seen in windows, a samsung however is not, so the so called pin trick is not to be used on a samsung as will only cause damage to your drive which I suspect has already happened, as a flashing green light is a indication that the xbox can no longer see the dvd drive , really you should really do lots of reading then read again then maybe ask questions , before steaming in armed with pins.

by the way, with that pin trick , if i put 12-3 the drive ejects but close directly as i remove the contact between them.

I opened the drive, laser still works and cd spins.

Tthe external HD-DVD drive will not allow you to play games.  Nothing over USB will.

Yes, the drive will close when you pull it out, that's why the CK3 has a toggle switch there (not momentary).

Do you have the key from this drive?

If you're quite sure that the drive has nothing wrong with it, then you should follow the tutorial that doesn't include shorting anything out, and get your key first thing.  Let us know what ever becomes of this.

ROFL LMAO is this new hax? pin tricks on samsungs? man you must be a complete nutcase if you're doing a pin trick on samsung lol.

most likely you are world's first.. recordbreaker i tell you, to perform such an act of stupidity to your 360

if you want to game, you go get a new 360.. since the likely hood of you fixing this is not present.. it's only to get worse without you even touching the 360 hahaha

can't help it dudes i'm sorry.. i'm a total ass i know but things like this makes me contempt with what i have (a brain with reasonable IQ)

dude instead of laughing out people think about you. Before calling me an ass you should know me first! and about IQ I have way higher than middle people.

By the way this has nothing to do with it, i followed a guide who said this, I did it like 4times on other ms-28 on the same console to power up the drive and it worked fine for the other drives

Still trying stuff, i'm taking it to my electro-mecanic teacher we'll look at it together.
By the way I contacted microsoft we'll see what they will answer. (The drive hasn't been flashed and I've got new warranty stickers so we'll see)

Just got an idea, couldn't we just use an other dvd reader, like we do for the hdd Huh

I mean, using a sata dvdrom into the xbox, after all it's basicly the same as a computer, only protected hardware, so if i flash the sata dvd drive with the xbox info( like we do with a hdd in order to have a 120gb instead of the 20gb) or even place the sata dvd with the hdd support Huh

any ideas ?

(it's like i will normaly don't fix it so i take it for test xbox)

oh wait woops my bad I thought you had this sorted....no you can't just use any SATA drive, don't take it to your electronics teacher (the peopel who always f*** $#!t up the worst are electricians, and the suposed "best friend who knows alot about soldering and electronics") - do you have the key (i'm assuming no ?)...dump the key and put it into another drive and test if that drive works on the 360 still otherwise you have damaged your SB

what this dude needs to do is send his drive to someone with a clue. because he previously said he didnt get his key dumped because "windows never recognized the drive". i mean for f's sake, how hard is it to turn on xbox360, open dosflash32, click read flash, and be done ? but this dude is too busy shorting pins hoping something magical happens.  Roll Eyes

hahah it's getting even better... so far you did this trick 4 times on MS28? and what did it help you exactly? it helped you nothing!

4 times a high risk of having fried a drive (like the one you fried with your pinhax) with this pintrick that won't even do anything

epic fail

deadcos,

Yes, it's possible to use a different DVD-rom in the 360, but the big question would be why?

1. You'd still need your original key from the original drive.
2. You'd have to write firmware specific your new drive that spoofed your original xbox drive.
3. A generic drive would need a power adapter to take the plug.
4. Original drives are easy to get, and not too expensive.
5. Original drives fit in the space and look stock.
6. Original drives can be flashed just fine.

So why?

Also, the reason people flashed the HD was:
1. Any 2.5in sata drive fit in the case just fine.
2. The MS HD was grossly overpriced.

As far as a HD ISO loader DVD replacement...
