Well, my delight over getting the firmare to patch with my PCI card soon came to an end when I finished putting the case on, booted up the xbox and got 2 red lights. I had tested the box before putting all the plastic on it. When I was putting it back together the plastic fan shroud had become unsteated. No the 360 thinks it is overheating when it isn't. When I try to turn it on power goes to the hd, then the rear fans start, spin up to a very high speed and then stop and the two lights come on. If I unplug the av cable so I get the error for that (to avoid it getting the temp error), the fans start spinning very fast and keep spinning very fast. Did I damage the temperature sensor? Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Thanks in advance for any ideas, I searched a bit but didn't find much.

When you open your system, did you loosen any of small screws or the BLACK screws!

If so OPEN your system again, and tighten all the small screws and make sure the BLACK
are super-tight.

Users have reported the same problem, when touching the screws other than the six
needed long bolts to remove the top cover.

It worked. I thought I had done a pretty good job tightening the screws the first time but after reading your comment I checked them again and two or three weren't very tight. Now the system boots without error. Why is it that the system has no trouble booting with the black screws completely removed though (I had them off the whole time)?

Well in any case, I'm extremely relieved. Thanks a lot gary!
