Does anyone have or know where to get a undo.bin file for a WD1200BEVS RST drive?
I flashed this drive using hddhackr 9.1, and then stuck it in the xbox and it saw it and it formatted it. Then I stuck it back in my PC and did a full restore using xplorer360 Beta 3, it took a while and finished. And I saw all three partitions and what looked like all the data. However I put it back in my xbox and it didnt see it.
So I said ok, I am just going to flash it again and then let xbox format it and go from there without a restore, at least Ill ahve the drive. I flashed it again, and stuck it in my xbox. Xbox didnt read it. I put it back in my PC, I booted up and saw that the drive now only has 32 MB of space!! Ouch!!
I looked around for factory firmware for this drive, however did not find any. So does anyone know where to get factory firmware for a flash, or a good undo.bin for that drive?

Im assuming the thing is bricked. There are no firmware updates of any type from WD for these drives anywhere. The closest I can find are smaller drives from the Scorpio series from Dell.com
I will have to order another drive, sadly. At least it will STILL come under the cost of a regular MS 120 gig drive. Im going to flash it, format it, and use it. Not even attempting to restore from my 20 gig.

just flash it again with the 120gb hddss
i suppose you did a full restore on your BEVS drive, from an image of your memorycard.
if you full restore your 20gb image on a 120gb xplorer seems to overwrite hddss.bin as well

Ok. I am going to try to analyze the drive with winhex and se if I can come up with anything. I believe I tried to flash it again, and got some funky error within DOS. But I will try that again soon.
Can you flash the drive if you have not initialized it in windows? I was doing something screwy. I was initializing the drive, and then creaing a partition, and then putting the hddhackr files on that partition. Then using this ntfs boot disc, (because I could not for the life of me find a boot cd that would allow me to read files from my dvd drive, the iso image did load ntfs dos though) and then accessing C:\, which was my bevs drive. My main drive was of course disconnected at this point. tihs worked, I got the drive to format on the 360 as stated above!!
Tonight I am going to try a different route, if I cannot get winhex to work. I will try to load dos off of my cell phone (a dare wich has a feature on the phone that allows the memory card to be used as flash and plugged in via usb). Failing that, I will get a jump drive. Failing that I have ordered a new drive already anyway.

If I just flash the drive, and stick it in the xbox and let it format. According to many here, partitions 1 and 2 will be missing. What is the consequence of this? If I was ok with starting with a blank drive, and I not going to be able to do certain things??

Not sure of any real downside with the exception of not transferring my data from my 20gb to my new 120gb drive, but all I did was flash it with hddhackr, put it in my 360 & formatted it. From there I've downloaded some stuff from xboxlive & copied a game to it & so far things seem ok.
Many others on here could tell you better though if there are any other downsides.

I believe you'll lose Xbox 1 compatibility that way.

Sadly this thing is toast. The only other thing I can think to try would be to flash my new drive, then using the undo.bin I got from that flash, try to run hddhackr -u on this old drive. They are the same exact model. Failing that, totally out $55 bucks. damn it.
I tried to write all zeros to the drive, that worked! But it was only 32 MB worth of zeros. I also tried to manually change the number of cylinders using winhex, and then I scanned the drive, and every cylinder past the ones that were there natually, said failed to find cylinder.

If they are the exact same model, I'd be interested to hear the results of using the undo from one on the other. I mean, it's not something I would try between two working drives as a test, but you don't really have much to lose at this point. Please post back your results.

The good news is my new drive is flashed and already installed in its case and working great with my 360.
The bad news is the new drive was a different sub-model or whatever, and it did flash off of the user.bin. However then, even as a slave, it caused windows to blue screen right after the initial flash screen. I tried it in my 360 before fully installing the working drive, and the big ball logo came up, however the controller kept flashing and nothing responded.
I wonder what went wrong? Why did reflashing the drive after trying to restore the full image from my 20 gig totally hose it?
It was a good learning experience anyway. I could have spent 55 dollars in a bar.
