Just bought a Team Xecuter Blaster360 NEXT EDITION for of course flashing firmware. When I get this installed am I going to have to do anything else besides flash the drive to play back-up games?

or you could have just skipped that whole part where you bought the blaster (and wasted your $$) and gone straight to flashing your drive. but the answer to your question is no.

uh yea, you have no idea what i just said. you dont need one of those things to flash your drive. all you really need is some brain power and a sata port.

k0mpresd, how can you say that?  He never said what his drive type was.  He could need a RS232 to TTL adapter, or hell even a 79 passkey, depending.

Jnelso62704 , the method of flashing depends on which dvd-rom your xbox has.  Google this: xbox textbook 2008
It covers all versions except the lite-on drive (newest).  For that read through the forums perhaps.

79passkey is outdated, and the guy was asking specifically about the blaster, which he does not need. noone does.

Sorry, I wasn't disputing the fact that the blaster is never required.  It's a convenience thing for people who flash often.  I simply meant that it’s misleading to say that nothing is required besides a sata controller.

Arakon, do you say that the 79 passkey is outdated because Hitachi's don't come in xboxes anymore, or because there is a better way for Hitachi 79s?

The 79passkey is outdated because of Podger's 79 Unlock software released on August 3, 2008.

I have a liteon, so I guess I wasn't following the 79s all that well.  My mistake.
