Hi all,
Just registered.Just bought an xbox cheap and I'd like to get started in modding.I have read a lot about modding the xbox and have searched forums and google for information. In this post I would love advice and clarification if I'm planning anything wrong. Thanks for your support.

My plan is to upgrade the hard drive to 750 gb using one of these (750 gb xbox hd) or if anyone can vouch for any other 750 gb hard drive. If I've understood correctly I need an lba48 compatible bios to use over 137 gb.So do I need a modchip or can i flash with a softmod (I've read varied opinions). If i was to get a modchip I'm thinking of going for a Xenium GOLD S.P. Solderless Xbox ModChip or a solderless Xecuter because i don't want to risk soldering. My plan is run XBMC so I'm not sure if I'll really need the special features of a modchip apart from the bios. Also if i can get away with a cheap enough modchip that would be nice because I'd like to keep costs down (50-60 dollars for modchip).

I plan to flash the bios to evox (seems to be the popular choice and most tutorials implement it) or xecuter. I hope to install the hard drive without hooking it to my pc so I think i can use evox to format it.
After the have the hard drive in and working I can follow the tutorials to install XBMC etc no problem because I've read over them many times.

If you guys have any advice I'd love to hear it.I really appreciate the help. Obviously i don't expect info on how to install hd etc just advice if I'm going in the right direction. Thanks.
