Hello, I was recently unable to get hold of MS28's quickly for Lite-On replacements, so I bought a couple of new MS25's. One was fine, but the other, despite appearing identical, being from the same batch, and seemingly fitting perfectly in the chassis, does not allow the eject button to reach.

I have now tried this drive in 3 lite-on machines, an MS28 machine, and an Hitachi78 machine, and have exactly the same problem in each. They have been a mixture of white plastic arcade latches, and chrome premiums.

The button fits on the front of the drive fine, and when the lid of the case is on, the groove fits neatly into its correct location, but there is no "click" when physicaly pressing the button, so the only way to eject the tray is through the dashboard.

Has anyone ever experienced this, and is there a fix ?

make sure the button hasnt broken off the board, or been physically damaged in transit,
can you press the button with a screwdiriver or pen and open it ??

if it does work, open the drive, and have a good look, compare it to another working drive if you need and see why its not reachng. something may have been bent or moved in shipping.

ive had to straighten a lid and put drawer gears back on once... anything is possible.

Thanks, but im not sure you have fully understood my problem....or ive explained it very well......the button thats being pressed in is not in the drive itself, its on the 360. The original drives reach/work fine on each of the machines Ive tried it on, and so does the other mS25....just not this one. There is no visble damage to the drive.
The answer is yes to the screwdrive/pen question.....If I fit the drive to a console and replace only the top half of the shell, pressing eject doesnt "click", but the latch is lined up correctly, with the lower rod going into the eject "hole" below, and pressing that bit with my finger makes the drive eject.....but obviously once the lower half of the shell is on, I cant do that. Its as if the little rod at the bottom of the latch needs to be longer.
