the penny caused a short. very likely something is fried beyond recovery. even if it's repairable, it'd take lots of time and equipment to find the defective part(s). you can look for burn marks and if you find any, post sharp pictures, maybe someone can suggest a solution, but don't get your hopes up too much.

k thats what i was thinking but where it was..like..i mean if it shorted it shouldnt even turn on correct? short usually cuts the power does it not? anyway ill aim for a sharp picture but in the meantime if i can explain this...once you have the top off and you can see your 360 motherboard...bottom right theres 4 little solder points i think 4 little squares.... like this cept wider but...here... ==.

that line comes off the 12v rail...what is your secondary error code (3RL is very broad...it can mean alot) and what colour is your PSU light and have you tried another known working PSU ? Unless it's the PSU then go with what Arakon said (so yeah it's probably screwed !)

the ROD is "generic error", including "something got fried". the short is gone now of course, since I doubt you left the penny inside.

Do you have/know how to use a multimeter? if you do then you could just trace the resistance where the short is and then from there decide whether you want to fix your 360 or not.
Though I'm willing to bet if you shorted the 12V rail then you shorted the 2 moffets that measure the amount of current the 360 is using.
