i put an samsung ms28 lens into an hitachi dj47 and for now its still working. i think it should go otherwise too.

Yes it will, there is upwards of 3000 volts running through that small piece of board, not only will it fry your console, it will throw you about 12 foot in the process. take it to a professional, its cheaper than the hospital bill.  |

I'm around Richmond, VA, but I don't really care too much about it being local (nor do I really think there's a lot of hope for me finding someone locally).  you need to make sure the drive tray is half open or you will get the com port error m8. if all else fails i'm in the uk. pm me and i could get your key and details for you. ? |

I have soldered the tx rx points,used conductive paint and also used a piece of clear sticky tape with 2 strands of fine wire, spaced so they bridge the point nicely (usually requires pushing down with a finger while u run dvd key, to contact properly). Have done this on the last 3 i've done and it works a treat! Clear tape lets u see where the strands of wire are and that contact is on the desired points only. Found this a good method for those of us that may not be too hot with a soldering iron  |

also any way of replacing ms25 laser for anything else? Maybe a benq laser as the connectors look the same?
Before you go and buy a new laser, try setting the sensitivity on it. Google for DVD Pot calibration. It works 90% of the time if done correctly. You'll need a mutimeter and small flat screwdriver for the adjustment. And a gentle hand |

will try pot as have spare laser unit. Anyone know where i can get a benq drive from? Tried ebay but no luck(except for some from germany for £60!).
i live in UK but if price is ok will buy from anywhere
