just resolder from the power lead pads to the 4 pads by the ic and it will still read off your key and bits for you..
i had to repair one like this someone tried doing them selves.

i keep getting problem with sata status could this be cos i aint bridged r707 proper also if i do it with screwdriver will it give electric shock thanks

So many people seem to be having a problem with soldering the bridges on the Lite-on board.

You don't need to solder.

Use a small flat screwdriver to bridge the R707 points. R808 does not need to be bridged as it is RX and the drive is not receiving any data- only transmitting. Using DVDKey 1.2, the key is retrieved fairly quickly so the screwdriver bridge is only needed for a short period. This way no other resistors can be damaged while trying to solder the bridges.

The R707 point only needs to be bridged just before you hit Enter at the 'DVDKey.exe xxxx' (where xxxx is your SATA comm port). Bridge it, hit enter and your key will appear. If it doesn't, you did not bridge it properly and will need to try again.

No, the command prompt in windows is not ms dos, it's a 32bit application that has some functionality of dos.  You'll need to make a bootdisk with either a floppy or usb drive(so long as your computer can boot from one).  Easiest way to get started with that is iprep.

As for conductive paint, should be ok... just make sure you don't spill it.

i have several ms25 drives which i use to replace liteons with. I have copied some games which work fine on my benq xbox 360 but when using the ms25 drives they come up with dirty disc error? I am using aone discs which have always working with my benq drive. Any ideas? Different way of copying to make games play on ms25? Using xtreme52d firmware. Really annoying it does not work.

And if you're really bent on using that (or other low quality brand), then try to flash it with a 5x (or even 2x) speed. And like Arakon said, use iXtreme 1.4 or something a bit newer than xtreme 5.2..

uhm.. you really, really shouldn't mess with things like that if you don't even know basics like that. chances are pretty good you will fry your drive otherwise. maybe check if there's a modshop or someone living nearby who can do it.

put ixtreme 1.4 on drive and still no better. strnage thing is i can play farcry 2 fine without any problems. Gears of war 2 loads to main menu then says dirty disc error and fable 2 wont even load it just says dirty disc straight away?  All games burnt on same media in same way. Any ideas? All my ms25's do the same. As before put the same discs into my benq drive and they load without a problem
