I bought a MAX3232 interface (http://www.tellab.it/open2b/var/catalog/b/122.jpg) but problems continue  Sad
I start DVDKey v1.1 (DVDKey v1.2 doesn't work for me  Shocked), it reads the key and then application doesn't continue its work and doesn't create indentify.bin and inquiry.bin  Cry

Anyone knows where is the problem?  Huh

thanks a lot.

You could also have used a normal pc SATA hdd or SATA dvd drive with the hot-swop trick. Just FYI  Tongue

Guys,

I've destroyed the bridge points, R707, R707 & R710 on my lite-on with $#!t soldering skills.  Is there any way to recover from this?  Or is my 360 now completely useless?

Hello,

I profess I'm a tech-loving geek, and I'm trying to get this whole thing working.  However, this is my first time attempting this sort of thing, so bear with me Smiley

I got a weird breadboard that apparently doesn't require any soldering.  The 5 pins in each row are connected to each other, making things quite easy.  Unfortunately, when I try to do the loopback test, there's nothing echoed back in Hyperterminal.  I tried shorting the pins on the serial connector side, and it echoed back, so I'm guessing I messed something up on the breadboard.

I got a MAX232N controller from Texas Instruments.  It has the exact same layout and pins as the one in the wiki.  Here's the datasheet:  http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/27230/TI/MAX232N/datasheet.pdf

This is what I did.

Keep in mind this is my first time reading any schematics and stuff.  I tried and tried 'till I was blue in the face.  Where did I go wrong Sad

Appreciate any help

just resolder from the power lead pads to the 4 pads by the ic and it will still read off your key and bits for you..
i had to repair one like this someone tried doing them selves.

Don't you need the 100 ohm resistors at R709 and R710?

Damn:
If you mean do you need them OR a short, then yes you do... these are on the Tray_Status and Eject signals...

this is just a quick repair so you can get your key and stuff from the drive and swop for a flashable drive.

Hello, please could you help me.

Want to get liteon key, using new maximus xtractor 360 tool which is supposed to dump the key via usb.

Changed bios for sata to ide secondary primary, bridged 'tx' on liteon using tin foil (ok?)

When I use dvdkey32 it comes up with
cc cc cc cc cc cc cc cc cc    cc cc cc cc cc cc cc cc cc

the identify and inquiry files appear to dump ok.

any thoughts on why its not working?

sorry to bother you, but this is my first attempt at this!

many thanks

Hmm okay, that means to read the key a simple bridge does it. I had a customer a few days ago who lost R709 so i searched hours for a 100ohm resistor...

I had this problem once and it was caused by not both TX and  RX points being connected correctly.
Check your solder points and try again.

all the prep went ok
the rs232 dongle while on loopback (rx and tx combined)
echoed and all went ok
solderd everything ok
i might touched the r709 and accidently hurt him but i didnt notice it at start... only later i saw it was supposed to look like r710
with little black color in the middle but it wasnt the same it was all silver no black, guess i touched it while soldering
after all the soldering i powered on the xbox to do the half tray part
and my liteon motheerboard R207 and R204 just litterly fried
i kept with the steps even though it already got fried thinking what could go worse...
well nothing went any worse (as worse for me is getting the entire liteon on fire...)
got to the dvdkey command and it said
Problems with sata status, try to reboot PC
had some more tries but nothing worked
removed all soldering, and reassembled the entire xbox360 to see if it still works
the xbox would power on and load
the green light kept flickering
and the tray status on the menu was opening but nothing happend
pressed the eject button
it stated closing, nothing happened
it just turned status to opening again
(all while tray was closed and did not move at all)

sorry for bad english or long post
wanted to give as much info as i can

well what are my options, is my liteon still hackable
or is it bricked and im doomed?

thank you for helping..

if you had frying resistors, then chances are a lot more got fried. in which case you can forget the drive, and with that, the key of course.

Podger mentioned that R709 & R710 were EJECT & TRAY STATUS.

Seen that you hurt R709, that is most likely the Tray Status signal. You'll have to post a picture if you want any more help.

R204 & R207 are 0-ohm resistors so those can be bridged.

Is your SATA controller set to Legacy mode in your BIOS? Set it and try again. You only need to bridge the TX points R707.
