Hello, I have done the max3232 circuit and have retrieved my key with success. I then try to retrieve the key from a friend's liteon but it doesn't work. The chip MT1319 gets very hot. I thought that I have broken the drive but it already works. I think that there is a short in the circuit but I dont know where. Any idea, is there another point where I can get RX TX to retrieve the key?
Thanks in advance.
if you remove the screws that fix the controller board of the DVD, you will see on the bottom of the board 4 tracks. the 2 in the center are used to tx/rx. you can try connect there.. it's more difficult but you can. I did and I could get the key. But be sure that it's your problem, because it's not very easy. Are you using DVDKey v1.2? Can you get inquire.bin and identify.bin? I have used dvdkey 1.1, dvdkey 1.2 and the last version of dvdkey32. I have retrieved again the key from my drive and works perfectly, just to check that my circuit is ok. But the drive that I'm having the problem I can only get inquiry.bin and identify.bin (this information is retrieved from SATA, I think). When it tries to get the key always the same error 54. As I say before I think that perhaps there is a short in the circuit because the chip gets very hot. But the drive continue working I have played gladiator original film and works. I will try to look for that points. Thanks. If anyone have the same problem and knows how to correct it, please post it.

Can I use this method to dump the key from benq drive? Because first I want to try this on my Benq drive before go to LiteON the reason is that I heve the key from Benq drive and there is no risk if I denstroy the Benq drive.

Ok, I think I accidentally removed a cap/diode when I tried to bridge the two points. It's the R709 cap which is removed, but the solder points are still intact. Should I just bridge the two points or will that fry the drive? I do have a bag with all kinds of capacitors maybe I could solder one of those?

I understand. You found paradise in America, you had a good trade, you made a good living. The police protected you and there were courts of law. And you didn't need a friend like me. But, uh, now you come to me, and you say: "Don Corleone, give me justice." But you don't ask with respect. You don't offer friendship. You don't even think to call me Godfather. Instead, you come into my house on the day my daughter is to be married, and you ask me to do murder for money.

R = Resistor C = Capacitor D = Diode U = Chip Q = Transistor
R709 is likeley same value as R710, so measure R710 and replace r709 with that. When you measure, leave connector unplugged like in yer pic.

Ok when I set my meter to 20k ohms it will measure R710 0.10 ohms. So I should find a resistor of 0.10ohms and place it right? I hope I can find a bigger one since its really small thing.

Well can someone measure R710 just to to verify so I can buy the right resistors?

Set the meter to 2K you should have more precision value.

Thanks for the hint:) R710 measures 99ohms so its probably 100ohms. Do you think I can replace it with a 80ohms resistor? I've been measuring all kinds of hardware, but the 100ohms resistor isn't on any of my old hard drives or ram-banks.

Ok im going to order the 100ohm resistors from ebay, does it matter how much watt? They range between 1/4 to 3watt

1/4 watt is more than enough for this. a 3W resistor wouldn't even fit into the case.

Thanks Arakon, Tiros and Spider22. You guys are awesome. I've ordered the resistors.. the ones I found on my old hard-drives were too damn small to desolder haha.
