there is no eeprom to desolder. the flash is integrated into the controller chip with no way to dump it externally.

Hi guys. Would this work? http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=11979I plan on getting that tomorrow along with the 0.1uf caps, luckily I have an old samsung d500 data cable I can pinch the serial plug from just wish I could use that, it does have some 232 based chip on it. (BTW if I posted a pic and the chip no would anyone be able to confirm if I could infact use that?) Thanks.

Just made this little batch. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jdbdydyomgkIt will copy all the bin files to the directory you will specify as a parameter . Usage : start port dir_name Example: start EC00 myliteon In "myliteon" folder you will find key.bin, identify.bin and inquiry.bin It's useful for people like me, that must work with many liteons extractions ...

I could realized what I was doing wrong and I've just got my key...
I was using the external sata port of my sata controller and I was getting the CDB error.
When I tryed to use the internal sata port, it worked fine on first try and I got my Liteon key.
I didn't know that there are differences between external and internal sata connections, but there are some...
Thank you for everybody who helped me.
Regards, sinistro

Hallelujah!!! I just got my key.bin!!! My new MAX3232 dongle arrived today. First try, "nothing received from COM port". Swapped RX/TX, second try, got the key.bin!!! What a f#ing relief. To all those getting the 'Sorry it didn't work. COM port seems anyway to work Sega:54" error, try this to verify that the MAX3232 dongle is functioning correctly. Short the RX/TX points on the MAX3232 dongle, hook up the 3.3V and GND point form the liteon drive. Power up the Liteon drive and plug the MAX3232 donle into your COM port. Try the hyper terminal loopback test I mentioned a few pages ago. If you don't get an echo then order/build a new MAX3232 dongle before you go crazy. Thanks to all for the input, especially to garyopa for all the PM's trying to point out where I was going wrong. Thanks so much. I KNEW it was the F#ing MAX3232 dongle. Happy hacking people

it's probably your com port of the dongle as dvdkey dumps inquiry.bin successfully even without the serial cable connected on my pc. just needs sata connection for it.

Yeah?I never tried to dump without the serial plugged in, I guess thats what was happening. I have a ready made Mx3232 dongle coming + usb to serial adaptor, I'll have to try thm on the pc I was using, or find another. I only have a laptop so am having to borrow other peoples computers Now you have said this, youve got me itching to try another as I had just given up on the homebrew one lol.

Hello, I have done the max3232 circuit and have retrieved my key with success. I then try to retrieve the key from a friend's liteon but it doesn't work. The chip MT1319 gets very hot. I thought that I have broken the drive but it already works. I think that there is a short in the circuit but I dont know where. Any idea, is there another point where I can get RX TX to retrieve the key?
Thanks in advance.

The problem is that when you power the drive by the 360, it pulses the eject pin when first powering on, to initialize the drive.
Either temporarily disconnect the eject pin (cut the wire on the power cable, then solder it back together later), or power the drive by your PC through a connectivity kit or a homebrew cable

Or you just follow the guide...
I would only recommend the method via Connectivity Kit v.2, where you just connect power through the kit, and can control power by it.
When you don't have that, just unplug power to the DVD drive itself, by unplugging the power cable from the Xbox Mainboard to the drive - this is best be done by unplugging it on the Xbox Motherboard.
@johnnybegood: Someone here in this thread already did connect RxTx on an alternative way/point, mentionend something about on the backside of the liteon... Don't know exactly where it was, so just look through this thread here - I think there were also pictures and schematics here.

if you remove the screws that fix the controller board of the DVD, you will see on the bottom of the board 4 tracks. the 2 in the center are used to tx/rx. you can try connect there.. it's more difficult but you can. I did and I could get the key. But be sure that it's your problem, because it's not very easy. Are you using DVDKey v1.2? Can you get inquire.bin and identify.bin?

Ok i'm confused. I found 2 pictures for the TTL level converter in this thread and why are they different? On Picture no one 3.3v is connected to a capacitor and then to pin no 2. On Picture no two gnd is connected to a capacitor and then to pin no 2. I think pic no 1 is the right one. But on http://beta.ivancover.com/wiki/index.php?title=Xbox_360_Lite-On_DG16D2S_Extract_Key they show picture no 2. And the adapter they show pictures of seams to be built after pic no 1. Which one should build after? Pic no 1 Pic no 2

That's OK...... at the bottom of page 12 of the data sheet, that says it ok to decouple +V to vcc or gnd.... http://datasheets.maxim-ic.com/en/ds/MAX3222-MAX3241.pdfPIN NUMBERS REFER TO DIP/SO PACKAGES. * C3 CAN BE RETURNED TO EITHER VCC OR GROUND
