this is annoying... here is how you do it step by step:
1. open up liteon 2. bridge resistor points 3. solder on tx, rx, gnd, and 3.3 4. Boot up dos 5. connect power to 360 and dvd drive 6. eject drive 7. pull power plug of 360 and dvd drive 8. close dvd drive with your hand half way 9. plug in 360 and power it on 10. plug in dvd power, and sata cable from your computer 11. connect adapter to com port 12. run dvdkey xxxx (xxxx = your sata port) 13. proceed to smash your head against the wall because it was that damn easy
0. Get a working max3232 adapter ... and I'll gladly go through to step 13

(..) when i type dvdkey ec00 it says Communication Problem , Wrong Sata ....etc.. (..) of course it will! READ the TUT! EC00 is an example of HIS SATA PORT the chances that yours is the same are VERY low i have Rs232 same as the devils360 tutorial described , and connvectivity kit.I soldered the 4 point to the drive and bridge the resistence points. please help me guys wat i am doing wrong?(...)
Man, even I read through the tutorial several times, and tried it out several times before I post my annoying questions here. And...even I am annoyed by those lazy ppl who just throw out half way Information of what they did. Right now, this thread is filled with full Step by step guides, nearly every third post is an quick summed up tutorial of the first one provided by Geremia. So, I'm very sorry to say, Chain, but you did EVERYTHING wrong. 1.) your sata port is the wrong one, try to find out yours by using dosflash as written in the tutorial 2.) when u use the connectivity kit v.2, you don't have to solder ANY cables directly to the drive, u have to solder only the two points on the drive itself, as written in the tut, the Rx/Tx are going directly into the DVD Power Cable, 3,3v and GND are soldered directly on the Connectivity kit. Heres the wiki:http://beta.ivancover.com/wiki/index.php/Xbox_360_Lite-On_DG16D2S_Extract_Key Read it, and act accordingly, ffs! PS: READ IT!!!

Hi peeps again can confirm thst this adapter works http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300256115413I followed the tutorial only thing was used the alternative TX/RX points as the small ones where useless. Also had to invert had no luck with hyperterminal but key was extracted so does work. Lastly after a few atempts to get it spot on released that if you just plug in power to drive press eject then get ready push eject again then pull power straight away no need to push drive in halfway light flashes instantly plug in power plug in sata away you go. Big thanxs to all the guys workin on this may we be forever in your debt.

I am trying to get my key of my Lite-on DVD odd.
When I ran DVDKey v1.2, i've got this error message:
Error in sending CDB.
However, I could get inquire.bin and identify.bin.
Does Anyone know what does it mean?? What do I have to do to get key.bin? Maybe my connections are broken. How can I test it?? The COM port is used to get the other things or just the key???
I donīt understand why just the key..
I tryed a lot of times...
I checked the VCC and ground of my max3232 and they are ok. However, I don~t know how to check tx and rx to see if some of them are broken..
I will appreciate any help.
Regards!

Ok... So I tried the other Liteon drive and I judiciously tried every single jumper setting possible with both rx/tx the right way around and inverted. Every single time I got the same error: "It didn't work, sorry ... Sega:54 ... COM port anyways seems to work" Another thing I noticed is when I started testing I had forgotten to jump the 2 bridges, and it was still giving me the same result. I could still get the inquiry.bin and the identify.bin even though the bridges weren't jumped. Can anyone in the know confirm what "Sega:54" error means. I am convinced it is the MAX3232 dongle. So I've ordered another one from eBay (below). Can anyone confirm that this one works? I will be watching this thread for any breakthroughs Did you receive and test this dongle yet ? It hasn't arrived yet, I am eagerly awaiting it's arrival though. I will post any results as soon as it arrives.

i made the solders into the motherboard of liteon, than i connected the power cable to the liteon(from 360), and when i power on my 360,my liteon was burned...i think that i burned the system of alimentation of liteon, not the chips or rom...

This inversion of TX an RX is common in many circuits. Indeed is needed. Here is a picture: Where you read SAIDA CABO = CABLE PINS Where you read PONTOS LITEON = LITEON POINTS As easy as 1, 2 and 3.

It's obvious if you think at it ... If the liteon transmit something (tx), the rs232 must receive from that point (rx) and vice versa ...

Hey Guys,
just a quick update from my side:
yesterday, I successfully read the Key.bin! The most troubles gave me the first 3232 i had, it was prebuilt by someone else, and two days ago, I was sick and tired of troubleshooting, so i rebuild me a new one, with all new Max232 - didn't work out the first time, neither, but then i did the loopback test, cables fine. Loopback with Tx/Rx connected coming from MAX - fine, too! Yay, so i figured it was the rs232 connection to the drive - as i used an connectivity kit, i just removed Tx/Rx from the Power Cable, and soldered them directly to the Lite-on - and...tada! worked on the first try!
Some advise for the solder noobs (like me) be sure to REMOVE the coating on the Rx/Tx point ON the liteon! Just scatch it off with a small screwdriver or similiar.

Not so obvious for many people reading this topic so far.

But it's not always necessary to invert tx and rx. One of three i dumped had to be like in the diagram from TMF, the other two had to be inverted.
