Using DVDKEY 1.2 I can save Identify.bin, but using 1.1, I get to the screen, wait 20 seconds. Neither will dump the key. Any thoughts?

yeah lowering the default reading speed from 12x to let's say 5x, would really let GTA4 (or any of your games) benefit from way less popups and loading times.

I don’t get it.  I have tried very combination of rx to tx and rx to rx and tx to tx and still no com port.  I guess my com port does not communicate in dos mode.

I’m starting to wonder if this method even works.  I guess it does based on the response from the peps, but my PC will not communicate with my com port 1 in dos mode!!!
 Cry

go to a computer store and ask them to test/fix it for you, then you'll be able to make it work

thank you so much for all your tutorials guys. got the key and inquiry.bin out easy first time...
but i have a problem spoofing my hitachi 47. i had trouble getting it into mode b with slax disc so tried the two wire trick. got it working the first time but i think i did a bad flash of the original firmware cos when i tried to install ixtreme i couldn't get it back into mode b. after many attemps i got hangry and i think i bricked it. is there any way to recover it without taking the chip out and reprogam it? i was wondering it there was any way of doing it with the max3232?
i bet it's dead but can't wait a week to get one from ebay...

this is the third time i have asked this. please someone give come advice.

Everytime i try to read the key it gives the error :  sega : 54 nothing recieved from comport.

i have this adapter :

http://cgi.ebay.com/MAX3232-RS232-to-TTL-module-converter-AVR-PIC-ARM_W0QQitemZ130253561070QQihZ003QQcategoryZ4660QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

it has jumpers on it. should they be set in a certain way? I have tried everything. soldering is all ok. Also what  settings in bios should my com port be? It gives me a few different options(normal, bi-directional,epp and ecp)

Please help as i have tried everything. I am sure its something to do with the jumpers.

sometimes i also get an error saying its the wrong port number but i have double checked and i am using the right port number

those settings are for the printer port. as for the jumpers, none of us designed that adapter, so we don't know what the jumpers actually do.

could i  do any harm by moving jumpers around to try and sort it out? Is it possible the jumpers could be blocking signals to and from the comport?
as for my other quiery. How come it says i am entering the wrong sata port when i have checked i am using the right one?

thanks massively for any help

Windows format floppy as "bootable", i'm referring to this, which can be also used to make bootable pendrive.
http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm
method 2

for people born after the floppy era, method 5 tells how to make a bootable pendrive without the need of a phisical floppy drive.

for the ebay items, compare the board layout with the max232 converter schematics you find everywhere, you just need to use RX, nothing more.

removed all the jumpers and it does stop me getting the comport error.
Now though i get an error saying there is a sata communication problem and says am i using the wrong port.

i am using dosflash to check the port so i am using the right one.

any ideas? this is driving me crazy!

Hello Everyone,

thx to everyone contributing to this nice piece of work, very good job!

But i got to admit i m not only here to say thank you, but i do have a problem
with extracting the key.bin, too.
With DVD Key 1.2, I'm actually recieving the inquiry.bin and identify.bin, but no
Key.bin - the error code is: 54
but the Program is saying that my "COM port is working anyways". So I'm assuming its nothing with
my Hardware Setup in General, (I'm using an connectivity kit v.2)but has either something to do
with the Bridged points R707/708, or with the "half tray open" trick. Anyone outthere any ideas?

Have tried DVDKey32 and both versions of dvdkey (16 bit)

On dvdkey 1.2 I can get the inquiry.bin, nothing else. Frustrating!

how do you use dvdkey32?
i can see what you need to use the command but not how to get these numbers. one part asks you to add to values together?

Hey guys,

I just followed this guide (http://www.eurasia.nu/wiki/index.php?pagename=LiteOnDvdKeySpoof) and have a connectivity kit 2 so I've only soldered my chip to that and skipped the opening of the drive to reconnect the two solder points. I now get an "0000000000000000000000... Bad key!" error. Do I have to reconnect the two solder points if I use the connectivity kit or am I doing something else wrong?

Like I said, followed the entire guide and it seems as my chip is working properly. Thanks in advance.

read better:

II. Preparation of materials.
A. Preparation player

Dvdkey The software allows the extraction of dvd Key and the line of identification. And this is possible on the benqs as on lite-on. With the uniqe difference for lite-on this requires a little modification on the drive.

If you have a benq dvd drive go to step B

Open your dvd drive lite-on, and watch the PCB thereof at the power connector. There are two small tracks to be rebuilt so that the link Tx, Rx of the power plug is connected to the chipset itself. (No need to touch the epoxy).

Ok guys,

I now double checked everything again, reversed Rx Tx cables to the powersource of the drive,
resoldered the two points on the drive, tried the paper clip method and the connectivity-kit method
to open the tray, but no luck - I'm still only recieving the INQUIRY.bin and IDENTIFY.bin, but no Key.
Error is, again,
Sega:54
COM port seems to work anyways.

The interesting thing here is that its always that error, even with reversed Tx/Rx.
Well, I 'm gonna try the DVDKey 32, but maybe someone could point me in the right direction here,
as I'm slowly loosing my mind with this piece of sh** drive....

Greetz

EDIT:// No luck with DVD32, either

@endorium: in my DVDKEY32 file was an readme1.txt included, all needed info on how to use the
app was given in it.I got it via xbins, btw

USAGE:

Dumps Inquiry String to Inquiry.bin & Drive Key to Key.bin

usage: DVDKey32 command_base control_base com_port
command_base: base register of ATA command block in hex (e.g. 1F0 or 170)
legacy mode sata: command base = i/o from msinfo32
com_port: 1 to 9

As with Geremia's dos16 exe, power the drive on before each attempt and with the tray half open...

e.g.

DVDKey32 1cc0 1

Command base register is the port you would generally get from iPrep (so, get iprep Smiley )
Com port that the serial adapter is attached to (that would be 1, in most cases)
