There are a few things you can look for.  Make sure the 2 points are bridged, tray half open.  If it still doesn't work then try inverting Rxd and Txd wire,  I had to this with my adapter to get it working.  Use dvdkey 1.2,  you'll get results instantly,  no need to wait for 20 sec

And if the problem stays? is it posible the Rxd and the Txd witin the IC chip are fried? so playing games is still posible (originals Wink ) but we cant read out the key.
Or is it so that if the drives works you can read out the key?

Kind Regards

The following error:

It didn't work, sorry       sega: 54
Nothing received from COM port

I have made a loop between tx and rx and there is a repeat in the terminal so the adaptor is working.
Besides i have followed every step in the tut, tried it under DOS, under windows but always the same error.
after switching rx and tx same prob.

Kind Regards

Kind Regards,

Read post #412.  give it a try and see if that works.  You can use power from the xbox if you don't have a connectivity kit, but don't power off the xbox,  unplug the power cable from the back of the liteon drive. (becareful not to insert the power cable in the wrong way, it'll zap and burn your fingers)

any other ideas?  i have tried this several times and still Nothing received from COM port....

Can anyone give some ideas for this:

It didn't work, sorry       sega: 54

Did you connect rx from serial adapter to rx of the drive and tx to tx ? You probably have to invert those wires (tx->rx, rx->tx), give it a try.

i have the same problem as a couple of other people and i have the same circuit as the rest. it is this on:
http://cgi.ebay.com/MAX3232-RS232-to-TTL-module-converter-AVR-PIC-ARM_W0QQitemZ130253561070QQihZ003QQcategoryZ4660QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

it has 3 jumpers on it which i am sure it has something to do with this error:

It didn't work, sorry       sega: 54
Nothing received from COM port

can someone please help as everything is soldered correct. i have tried switching rx and tx. tried everything else but not messed with the jumpers on the board. Please any help?  Also if i try dvdkey32 i double click the program and a box appears and disappears again before i can read anything?

You must start it in the CMD screen so go to

Start --> Run type here CMD en push enter
A black screen is showing now.
Type in it cd "x:\dvdkey32" where x is the drive letter, and without quotes off course  Wink and push enter.
and then you can type "dvdkey32 CMB CB COM"

I don’t get it.  I have tried very combination of rx to tx and rx to rx and tx to tx and still no com port.  I guess my com port does not communicate in dos mode.

I’m starting to wonder if this method even works.  I guess it does based on the response from the peps, but my PC will not communicate with my com port 1 in dos mode!!!
