I understand. You found paradise in America, you had a good trade, you made a good living. The police protected you and there were courts of law. And you didn't need a friend like me. But, uh, now you come to me, and you say: "Don Corleone, give me justice." But you don't ask with respect. You don't offer friendship. You don't even think to call me Godfather. Instead, you come into my house on the day my daughter is to be married, and you ask me to do murder for money.

Hey I seem to be having a problem, everytime I run DVDkey the last two bytes of the key are different, other then that it works fine, says "found something!" instead of "didn't work..."
but I keep having the problem of the last two bytes being different, sometimes 9A08, sometimes 1A00, mostly 9A00, not sure which one is right (each time it says that it's NOT a good key)
I guess if I can't fix it I'm gonna run dvdkey a bunch of times and see which one it comes up with the most, try to spoof and see what happens, I'm like 99% sure the rest of the key is correct, it's the same every time
oh well, not bad for a ghetto rs232 -> ttl converter made from a bunch of 10k resistors, a diode, a 0.1uF cap, and a couple transistors

sorry for this post. is it worth bying the max3232. now that the drive can be flashed with the help of chip can we hope for a method to read it with softmod. i'm not that good at soldering and don't really want to brick the drive by doing something wrong.

First of all thanks for this great effort to the ones that made possible this outstanding achievement.
Also I have a question, I recently bought a Hitachi GDR-3120L, that was flashed, but I don't have the original firmware, is there a way I can flash the drive to original state with a generic firmware, and then aply the iXtreme firmware? Or I better go for a benq?
Cheers!!! Rolo

Hi you should be able to do this with 360 firmware toolbox 4.6. I found a version on www.eurasia.nu that included all the original firmwares (un hacked) you could simply flash your hitachi back to original version with your key from liteon. You could go straight ahead and get the ixtreme hitachi firmware pack and flash one of those onto it with your key using 360 firmware toolbox. The firmware pack has all the different hitachi versions in it.

[13:07] <+c4eva> dvdkey extraction successful on liteon, key update/write to any drive successful(liteon included), work continues to dump/write fw
I'm probably deadwrong, but just wondering. Since (according to this statement from c4eva) the key can be written to the Liteon as well, is it also possible to write the identifier string (spoof string) to the Liteon ? What I'm trying to say is if we can use the Liteon and spoof it (for example) as an MS25 and put it in another console ? (not much use since the Liteon firmware isn't fully dumped, let alone patched for iXtreme, but is it possible ? )

it works with Benq IXtreme but NOT with Samsung iXtreme ! i am the problem or is this an drive switcher problem ?
if i use an iXtreme Benq Firmware v1.4.1 with Drive Switcher - the program recognize the Key and show 777777777777 and insert the Liton in it an i can flash the Benq with the iXtreme spoofed as Liteon if i load the new spoofed benq firmware again in drive switcher he shows the right liteon key
if i use an iXtreme Samsung Firmware v1.4 (8x speed) Drive Switcher says that the doesnt know the Key and NOT insert the LiteOn Key in the new generated Firmeware. if i load the new spoofed samsung firmware in drive switcher he shows unknown key

Try to insert with fwtoolbox a key in the samsung ixtreme firmware, before use it in 360 drive switcher for the liteon spoofing.
I think this error could occur with firmware with 00000 or FFFFF Keys.
See you

I don't know, that was why I asked. I was just thinking that both the key and the identification string are in the same firmware. C4EVA managed to find the part where the key is located and dump that. And he can also write a new key back to that location. Now he also managed to find the part where the id string is located and dump that as well. Is it that strange to assume that writing another string to that location is now also possible (provided he writes a program to that) ?

Told you about this issue a long time ago.... The issue with the iXtreme samsung firmware is that it doesnt have a key in it. Your app must be searching the key section array for the key location, but doesnt find it. You can easily fix this by finding the last key place holder and make sure that the key structure itself conforms to Samsung firmware. Then just inject the key.
