Dont think the pci card will work, has to be onboard. I bought a pci card for my last pc but never got it to work correctly, ended up changing my pc! Xecuter is optional, just makes powering the drive on/off easier

1. did not tried. I think not, because it need driver to work in windows. 2. it is a optional. you can just unplug/plug power cable from DVD drive.

lol @ all these ebay links!!!
Ok people there are loads of variations of the 232/3232 and unfortunately you probably wont know if they will work until you try them...We know the 3232 and the 232 both with Maxim chips work, so try finding the ones with these chips (often advertised for modding modems and such), or build one which really is easy, even for first time solderers!

Will a USB TO RS232 DB9 PIN SERIAL CONVERTER ADAPTER work or does it have to be RS232 Cable?

Not 100% sure, but i've heard of people having trouble with rs232 to usb adapters. I think its something to do with the com port or irq that gets assigned to it, where as an onboard (motherboard) rs232 port gets com1 and the irq 0x3F8 IRQ4 assigned to it.

Would a VGA cable work or you have to buy a RS232 cable as I cant find them anywhere.

A null modem lead is a different thing altogether. The wires are crossed to different pins from one end to the other (ie. pin 5 one end could be pin 9 the other end). Serial lead that you need is wired straight through

Hello all, I've updated my tool 360 Drive Switcher for the lite-on. You will find it here : http://rapidshare.com/files/140293297/360DriveSwitcher_v1.1.1256.0.zip.htmlPlease follow these steps to spoof your remplacement drive : Run the software then click on browse to select your source firmware. Select the file INQUERY.BIN you've just dumped before from your lite-on: If the file KEY.BIN is placed in the same folder than the file INQUERY.BIN, it will be loaded automaticly. Else, the application asks you to select the correct KEY File. Then, select the destination firmware. Here in this example it's a Sammy Fw MS25. You should obtain that : By now just click on "Generate the firmware" in order to save your new spoofed firmware. Flash as usual your remplacement drive with this new firmware, and it's over. Keep me informed if you have any issue. See you later
