I was trying the hack last night but was unable to do it. 1. How am i suppose to put the drive in mid open status? 2. Do i have to push the eject button and when the drive is mid way in and turn off the power? 3. If the second condition is ok then when i turn on the drive again it will go inside does it matter?
Connect your connectivity kit... switch it on.. open the tray.. switch it off and then push the tray closed to half way. Now when you turn the connectivity kit back on it will stay half open. Whilst here i have a quick question myself. Can the lite-on daughterboard simply be replaced with a BenQ daughterboard?? This would be great as I'd just be able to order 50 or so boards from china for Ģ10 a pop (complete replacement benq drives in bulk are Ģ15 but the weight is quite a lot).

Not tried, but i doubt it..the cables seem to be made to a finite length even if they were compatible...
I can get TS's in bulk qty through redboxmods very very cheap right now MOQ 1,000+ though, and they seem to work perfect on both units I did. Ill post the results on a benq if i get hold of one...none here to test really.

You need to do some reading thuanz.
"The message they sent you was:
Hey mate, wondering if you could post the spoof string for the Lite-On ??
cheers gigabite"
Sorry, not sure about copyright law on this one....anyone that has any use for it will need to dump it themselves anyway. So, please, no one ask me for a copy of the string anymore. The instructions are very clear on how to dump it.

There seems to be quite a bit of confusion about the max232's. The 3232 shown on the diagram works the same as a 232 but the 232 will accept 5v aswell as 3v. The 232 and 3232 are common place with modem hackers and are used to read/write the flash chips in them...the flash chips are 3v the same as the ones in the lite-on, so they will work just fine. They can be built for less than Ģ10 and a trip to a maplins store to get the parts, only very basic soldering skills are needed to build one!

thanks fastflow... I was getting tired of the same question being posted multiple times and people simply not reading the answers...yours makes it clearer than mine
Yes, both work.
Gerememia used max3232 and i used max232......both work.....but power is not even hooked up to the maxim chip, so its really inconsequential which one you use AFAIK.

Parallel is almost always LPT1 from memory. If you are going to experiment...you might want to start with what you know will work first...any tech worth half his salts should at the very least have 1 rs232 serial port and cable in use..... I have 5.....and they are just the computers that are currently switched on.

Ive not seen the 3244...but I would use what was specified to work before using what is no known. I just looked at your key....Seems not a good key! hehe Well you can try to spoof it in another drive, if it don't work..you know your key is a dud.....

Hello All, I just have made a tutorial for extraction and spoofing a liteon. You can find it here : http://gueux-forum.net/index.php?showtopic=195833&hl=But sorry, it's in french for the moment. If you're interested by it, I could translate it when I have little time. For the moment, I finalize the update of my software 360 Drive Switcher, in order to spoof automaticly a replacement dvd drive. See you soon
