there is something simple that meny people overlook you may want to add

as you know if you do not have the video cable pluged into the 360 it will power off itsself in bout 10 min or so witch is enoth time to flash the drive sence I did it like 3 times before I realised,  but if someone was to screw around a bit before flashing the drive then start flashing it without a video cable pluged in he wouds have a problem

I think putting in a warning about that may be important

you mean like this one?

Xbox 360 Connection:

Unplug the SATA cable from the back of the Xbox360 Drive. Connect a SATA cable from your PC SATA connection to the back of the Xbox360 Drive. Connect the video cable to the back of the Xbox360. If you do not do this, the Xbox360 will power off at an inappropriate moment (like when flashing). Power on the Xbox360.

Followed by this:

Now read this tutorial, twice. If you don’t understand any terms, think twice about doing this.

Thanks to you to gee bee.  I appreciate your quick replies and help as well.

When I used the wires the tray popped open after I powered on the xbox and then I let go of the wires and booted my pc and we were good to go.

Wasn't really scared about trying the wires cause this is the xbox I am workin with.

Well that xbox was burnt up in a house fire.  The whole house practically burnt down and that f***er somehow survived.  We found it under some insulation that fell from the attic. LMAO durable lil f***er eh?

Everything works fine besides the drive.  I ordered a replacement hitachi eons ago(which ended up being one big mistake when I could of ordered a sammie at the time, but no progress had really been made on sammy then I don't think c4e's xbox1 firmware was even out yet).

But what puzzles me is the drive doesnt look damaged in any way.  No smoke damage or anything.  But it doesn't read discs.  Though when hooking to my pc it read the live cd just fine.  If you hook it to the 360 it will spin up and then say insert disc this happens with dvds/xbox games 360 games everything.  Which kinda has me baffled.  Maybe it needs a pot tweak?  Regardless now that I have the firm backed up I am just gonna wait on the new hacked firm before putting it all back together.  Tongue

You wrote a VERY GOOD TUT....

for the sammy people  Shocked

No just kidding! But I do have a hitachi drive, but I really can`t hook that thing up in windows!!

What I did:

bought a VIA6421L PCI card

hooked it up in slot 1 (tried 2 too!)

hooked my hitachi with a SATA cable in port 1(!!!)

nothing hooked up in onboad-IDE port on the sata PCI card

hooked this up to my 2 ONBOARD MOTHERBOARD IDE PORTS: 1 for: HD master and HD slave and 1 for: DVD-drive master and DVD-BURNER slave

Now I used the SLAX method (used TOTALLY your guide!)
But still my drive isn`t recognized in windowsXP  Embarrassed

What`s the problem I`ve been overlooking the WHOLE LAST NIGHT?  Grin
May be RAID?? But I can`t find disable RAID in bios! And BTW my card works fine!

Nice one Gee, this should come in handy later on tonight.

I was gonna open my 360 last night to check the drive revision, but I ended up going out on the piss instead.  Cheesy

EDIT: Does anybody else get an error when they try to open this in Acrobat, or is it just me ? I've got Reader v7.0
