VCC method. I need serious help

So let's begin.

I have a ms28 samsung drive.

I'm a novice, so the soldering process wasn't exactly clean. ripped of the left capacitor as well and had to replace it. Long story short I got my dad to fix everything and added the switch. Since there is not a schematic available we just guess where everything went.

I tested the 360 to see if it would even operate at all. It worked and played games. Awesome.
If that area was soldered wrong would the samsung drive even operate anymore?

Now I'm following textbooks.pdf using ntfs4dos and iprep. lastest definitions and firmtool.
I start ntfs4dos access the iprep folder and load it up. I turn on the xbox360, Type in my dSam serial.It see's my drive as 1. Xtreme drive.
Now at this screen I shut off the xbox, flip the switch to OFF on the vcc switch.  Now after this I turn on the xbox again, quickly flip the switch to ON and quickly hit 1 for the xtreme drive.
After this all I get is " Port: 9880 master/slave: b0." It just stays there.

What am I doing wrong? could it be that we wired the switch up incorrectly?
Is it too late to just go and buy a VIA SATA card?

if you didn't solder it properly...no it wouldn't work - use MTKflash...get a VIA card - use Xtreme Boot Maker (36 version) to make you a custom hex edited flash and the rest i've explained like a million times

ok i know if it wasnt soldered properly the vcc switch technique will not work..

but I mean, would te samsung drive even operate at all normally, I can still play my original games ok. I'm telling myself if i didnt do it right, how can I be playing games?

Unless that group of traces,capacitors, and resistors are superfluous to the functionality of the drive. With only the purpose of protection.

Now I'm apprehensive to buy a via card because of the fact that I'm not sure if it is even possible to flash anymore, with any method.
But I'm going to have to try it anyways.

You don't turn off the 360 while in MTKFlash. That is what the switch is for. When you get to the screen for the drives, turn the switch OFF. Wait 10 seconds. Select your drive. Wait another 10 seconds. Switch the switch ON therefore powering the chip. Dumping or flashing or w/e you are doing should go!

Don't turn off your 360 at all during the process. At least I think that is how it is done.

im going by textbook.pdf.. everyone seems to be using that guide. it says to turn the xbox off, the switch to OFF, start xbox switch to ON then enter in the drive.

All i need to know is. Can i still use VIA sata method even though i can't do VCC switch due to a botched switch or something else that is ruined.
But I can still play retail copies.

yes, in fact with it you will NOT need the VCC switch - if your so scared that it's not going to work or you messed it up (even though it works...which means you have done it correctly) take a *good* picture of the damage and post it up
