if you don't know what it is, then you didn't remove it. it's a resistor on the 360 MB.

Please don't play around with these updates, esp this one if you do not have a way of recovering your flash. With an infectus or other method such as the xD card. If you don't have a way to recover then you will brick your console or have other issues when playing with unofficial updates.

Latest kernel is 6683 if I am not mistaken.
The Dashboard preview was leaked. Google it, I just downloaded it easily, no torrents needed, copy the Preview folder to USB stick or CD, and boom, but I am thinking it will blow an efuse...so should I dosolder R6T3?

yeah lowering the default reading speed from 12x to let's say 5x, would really let GTA4 (or any of your games) benefit from way less popups and loading times.

As the update itself is only around 10mb (meaning it goes straight into the flash), I'm unsure why Microsoft have been banging on about the need for an HDD or memory card. When you install the update on a console that's part of the preview it installs the update, reboots, then connects and downloads extra files for about 5 minutes. I presume that's the other 100mb or so which consists of avatars, extra graphics and whatnot? Basically I'm pondering if this update will install on a console without an HDD or memory card present, and if not, will it work with the HDD or memory card removed at a later date? This is for a banned machine that has no permanent hard drive/memory card.
Also, in the older dash you were required to manually download codecs to play xvids and other formats other than WMV. I'm wondering if this is still the case (ie to solve banned consoles not being able to play anything other than wmv).

Update: You need to redownload the media update to play things like XVID's and whatnot. This means that you should be careful about updating your banned console if you already had the media update as you will LOSE the ability to EVER play anything other than WMV.

I can confirm that without r6t3 resistor you'll get an E80 error after NXE update...... Just tried.

the avatars etc require a download that you can not get now, obviously. it does launch without memcard/HD of course, but those features are disabled (and required as far as I understood, to play online).

Arakon, in which case that settles my initial concern on updating a forever to be naked 360. Cheers.
Does the updater pester you for an HDD or memory card to be present in order to actually update in the first place?

OK, so if I remove my R6T3 and I do the update you'll get E80? Too bad. I have a suggestion, put R6T3 back in, and apply 5v to the right side, (I think the right side being the side that poinsts to the hard drive connector and the audio video connector, if that makes sense. That might blow an efuse for you like if you would have done it earlier when you updated. Worth a try.

Just to clarify, I just tried and you don't need to connect an HDD or memory card to update.
