so is it possible to make a back up without ripping your xbox to peices the wxripper way. i have a samsung pc drive could it be possible to flash that with the xtreme0800.bin to extract the ss files instead.

no.
you can ONLY get the SS using the 360 drive.

Common misconception.  This firmware will ONLY work on the toshiba drive in the 360.

I was just thinking about the piggy back bios chip method and if it would be possible to do it to a pc dvd rom. So it would behave like the 360 dvd drive. flashed with the xtreme0800.bin or it it a special piece of hardware that alows the 360 dvd rom to read the security sectors other than the bios?

no, unless you can find a PC drive that has the EXACT same hardware as the 360 drive.
