41  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Is it possible 360 will never be fully hacked? on: February 02, 2007, 12:26:47 AM
While there is no way to tell yet, I was interested in everyone's personal feelings or thoughts on this.

Is it possible that the 360 will never be hacked like the xb1 is?  Or is it kinda just like "a matter of time" thing?

You could dive for the llaaaaaaaaalalaaaaa, non reality-based answers most people vaguely give through cliche terms.

"matter of time" or whatever

But really, you can bet it's not going to play out hopefully like this phrase is used to suggest.

A matter of time could be 20 years. Reality, and how it is unfolding, is as important as optimism.
42  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: MS will hit DVD flashing hard because Gears gets hacked and glitched? on: January 27, 2007, 02:27:05 AM
i hate to say it, but I TOLD YOU SO....just from the first day that i heard of the iso project on the samsung i warned everybody for this, and here it is

Yeah that's totally retarded. Hope you're proud of yourself.

If I was just picking on you it would be one thing

But you are speculating impossible possibilities about technology you don't understand

Any firmware hack allows you to edit unsigned files, simply because they are unsigned an it's an unofficial disk. ISO format doesn't allow you to change anything about what is possible. It can sometimes condense the data size on the game disk. That's it. It re-expands as you play it, into a normal disk as it's passed into the 360. That's the only way ISO can be used.

If you knew anything about the technology you were "explaining" you'd have known that.

Word to anyone else like this: If you don't know anything about how something works, don't explain it. Should be obvious.
43  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: MS will hit DVD flashing hard because Gears gets hacked and glitched? on: January 25, 2007, 01:32:14 AM
Yep It's damn stupid, ruins everyones game and kills the stats.

Look at the leaderboards on any ranked game mode on gears
and you can clearly see that people with 20 kills are on top
of them.

These idiots deserve to be banned, talk about letting MS know
that they are using modded firmware.

Drawing their attention to modded firmware over idiots like this, is exactly what we want to AVOID.
44  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: MS will hit DVD flashing hard because Gears gets hacked and glitched? on: January 21, 2007, 07:46:27 AM
Check the link about Gears gets hacked and glitched

http://www.xboxic.com/news/2262#comments

Watch the video showing the glitches...

"We’ve all seen those glitches that are possible in Gears of War. You can long jump, fly, glitch your way to parts of a level where you not suppose to be and even chainsaw yourself. But “Clan eXo” takes it to a whole new level. According to Mr Hoodie LOL, who made a post on the MaxConsole forums about it, you only have to change some settings in a file within the disc and reburn the game."

That's pretty bad and mostly, when things are hacked this way, MS will do everything so it won't kill Live/the game. I mean I know I would be dissapointed to play against these cheaters in the game.

On the other hand, everyone with a modded drive could be more in the danger zone by this. Before MS said to care less because the game attach rate is still high @ 5.3 games per 360 unit sold, but with this new info on gamemods...

You do have a point.

MS would rather prevent than the constant expense of banning.

Live is ms's bread and butter. When people start using a good thing to idiotically f*** with that for short lived cheating, they kill a good thing for basically nothing. The most useless trailer-trash of humankind.

Gigabite's a dumbass. I wouldn't ever listen to someone who claims to "know an undocumented way to run unsigned code, but refuses to document it", because either he's a liar or a useless selfish bastard.

45  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: How can i check how my Xbox has been Modified! on: January 18, 2007, 05:50:51 PM
OFF TOPIC - What if there was say an "un documented" way which disabled the hypervisour, region free games?

Then GET IT documented, so everyone doesn't think it's a prank or a tease.

If you truly have information you're not sharing just to help one or a few people,

Then that's ASININE and you're worthless, and it won't help us.
46  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / A different angle of wonder about the "discovered homebrew method" on: January 15, 2007, 01:18:52 AM
Because this forum says "newbie posts" are even welcome, and this is a logistics question rather than product-related... I am thinking this post WELL meets those standards, and has *no reason or excuse* to get deleted or moved. I would like to see what experts think about a totally different aspect than the actual product, or softmod, or whatever it's supposed to be.

What I wonder is, if this person opted to make a huge pile of money by distributing this to the scene, instead of getting suckered in by ms on money they will never see: Assuming that this is an extremely complex hardware mod... Could it even be mass produced well enough to get it out to most members of the community? Does anyone think such a thing would be easily available in mod-shops all over? In my hometown, in your hometown? Close to most people's towns?
47  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: kingkong exploit???german hacker hacks xbox360 in front of crowd to run home on: January 11, 2007, 06:02:14 PM
also, people who are calling bs might just not post...That's my thought and do what you want with it!!

Allright, thanks. I'll give that back to you to cram back in your ass where it came from. I ask that you actually think about something before typing it, please.

The point of calling bs, is... Well, CALLING bs...

I ask that people STOP encouraging what may (most likely) be a childish prank by actually SPECULATING over it and giving this child $#!ts and giggles. If in some ENORMOUSLY unlikely event that this is not a prank, oh well he'll release it anyway. No harm in being cautious, much disappointment in being naive.

***
***
I ask that we err on the side of caution and drop this topic for now, in case it's pure BS. That will in no way prevent it from coming if it's true, and it will shut this stupid prank down early if that's what it is.

People, let's stop ENCOURAGING what is very likely a childish idiot praying on hope

Please.

I too would be joyously overwhelmed to be proven wrong but, COME THE HELL ON

Until we KNOW that this is not just a childish prank, isn't it UNDENIABLY better to just brush it off as a child's dumb-ass prank, in case he's just getting what he wants by riling people up with false hopes?

Can anyone deny that? No. Thank you.

I suggest this topic gets locked under suspicion of pure childish bs, until something other than videos and speculation happens.
48  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: kingkong exploit???german hacker hacks xbox360 in front of crowd to run home on: January 11, 2007, 01:53:40 PM
slow down with the bs posts...coming close to 3.0 posts/day...

Nah, because there's no reason to endulge this little prankster with actual interest in his fake hack that he hid and showed at the conference for giggles

That just gives him what he wants. Putting people on the edge of their seat for nothing at all.

We honestly need to forget this and stop endulging this dumb child's prank

Unless somehow in a whirlwind of the blindingly unlikely, he comes out with actual distribution of this to oldies who can verify they have USED it to get even the simplest form of homebrew running.
49  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: kingkong exploit???german hacker hacks xbox360 in front of crowd to run home on: January 11, 2007, 01:35:15 PM
I'm gonna call BS because

I don't think the hoodie kid is hiding himself from MS

I think he's hiding himself from the community, because it's a bull$#!t child's PRANK

I bet if any actual hacker has any news about this it's pure hearsay and promises, and it has nothing to do with any kind of actual ability to run homebrew

Though it saddens my heart to say that, and makes me want homebrew all the more, I think all I've said is true. I hope that someone finds a way, but I just don't think this is it. It smells too much like fish.
50  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: kingkong exploit???german hacker hacks xbox360 in front of crowd to run home on: January 04, 2007, 11:46:37 AM
Even so, anything that would run homebrew at all

Could probably help to much more easily crack open, the things they REALLY need

I don't mind wether it's software, hardware, or a combo, that leads to research. In the end, I just want to be able to buy something that lets me play homebrew emulators on my 360.
51  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: ^^^^ Oblivion Fan Made PC Mods on my 360^^^^ on: January 02, 2007, 10:30:37 PM
for PC, but bluecop got it working on the 360 one too.
Can you say WHERE bluecop explains that he got this working?

Or are you just 'joking'? Roll Eyes
52  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Xtreme 5.0 question on: December 22, 2006, 11:48:11 PM
Maybe we're all a little retarded  Tongue

But the question "will this allow me to edit game files" is silly

If that's not what you were asking, then don't worry, I wasn't talking about you.

On an off-topic rant: There is a common STATEMENT: "if this lets us play iso format, that will let cheaters alter files"... which can only come from people who have absolutely no knowledge how this works, and yet somehow think CONFIDENTLY that that dumbass impossibility is true. (I know that's not related to anything YOU were saying, but it's related to what I was saying, and I had to rant on it.)
53  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Xtreme 5.0 question on: December 22, 2006, 08:42:59 AM
i have managed to play xbox1 backups now on SL dvd's now but my big question is. how can i remove all the sh*t from a game-rip, so i mean remove the Video partition etc.. and only keep a clean game iso from under 4.7 gb Huh?

im getting tired of buying a dl every time i want to test some stuff out..

so info or tut about this would be appriciated Tongue
I'm getting tired of...

People doing what I think you're doing here. Asking retarded support questions without first working to GRASP the simple concept of fw. (If you're asking how to remove files, which would be a retarded idea.)

That would give you a BROKEN crc/signature on the data. The INTERNAL security of the 360 WILL NOT RUN ANYTHING BUT THE EXACT ORIGINAL DISK DATA passed through the DVD drive.

In fact, hacked fw ONLY works because it translates the copy to the EXACT ORIGINAL DISK DATA before the code is run. Hence, if anything, hacked firmware makes it IMPOSSIBLE to cheat or remove any files.

* * *

How this 'single layer' function works...

All earlier firmwares relied on an exact DISK copy, INCLUDING the blank space. A FEW 360 games have so much blank 'dummy' space that they would otherwise fit on a single layer disk. For those VERY FEW games this firmware lets you make data-only single layer images, and fakes the Blank-Space/Dual-Layer thing.

That is the only time this firmware ever lets you put a 360 game on a SL disk.

This is an extremely useful function, and it's mostly for xbox1 disks. Now you don't have to waste a dual layer DVD on a mediocre old xbox backup.

Anyone expecting this to let you delete or change game files, i'm sorry but that's retarded and there was no reason for you to think that.  (And you either didn't read up for yourself or can't understand anything but the simplest concepts.)
54  General / Junkyard/Sewer/Dumpster/Landfill / Question regarding media stealth on hitachi drives on: December 19, 2006, 11:04:05 AM
I remember that this attempt has been worked on by some of the top talent around here.

My question is, does it still look possible, and has any promising 'success' been had testing the idea?

55  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Latest status on homebrew for the 360? on: December 19, 2006, 10:50:14 AM
Good luck getting ahold of GaryOPA

I know the guy's given us excellent firmwares thus far. . .

But he's all but dropped off the planet recently

This really doesn't seem like him.

I just hope he's ok.

Hmm. Been very busy here. Also I moved locations (still in Toronto), and I been offline for a while
getting new phone numbers, internet hookup and etc. Almost done. Hopefully I can catch-up on
all the backlog of emails, pm's and reading, plus finish testing new revisions of firmwares.

More news later....

Even more important than the firmwares, It's good to see that you're ok

Especially after all the GaryOPA xtreme releases the scene has been blessed with

Kudos!

56  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Re: carranzafp> now selling program for hitachi 78 on: December 15, 2006, 08:50:55 AM
Ah, right, I posted hurriedly as I was just on my way out.  I'd seen that the screengrabs on mercadolibre had the maximusgames url watermarked on them and after reading BH0ff000's comment about Maximus I kind of assumed this program was a carranzafp/maximus release.

My bad.

EDIT:  Just realised what I was going on about now - The vid on Youtube shows the software as being Maximus, if this was the case surely Maximus would have info on his site... or am I incorrect in assuming maximusgames.net is anything to do with Maximus?

I think he means read the maximus site again. Maybe he means there IS info related to this hack on that site.

Even if that's the case, it's still a HUGE SCREWOVER if it doesn't have media stealth, since games can start implimenting a DVD-R check and WASTE your chunk of money.
57  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Re: OPA Repair Services Experience - Bad on: December 15, 2006, 07:54:24 AM
Does anyone know if GaryOPA is actually OK?

Does anyone know for sure he didn't get hurt or arrested or payed off by ms or married?

it would explain a lot, here.

The sudden absence, the lack of response to even his hardware repair service, the inability to finish his latest project or even report.

All of these things aren't the person we know. The scene-loyal and helpful GaryOPA.

With Gary's shining track record, I'd sooner wager it wasn't even him on the phone, but a clueless relative or friend trying to help him out?
58  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Latest status on homebrew for the 360? on: December 14, 2006, 11:26:02 PM
there really isnt much going on.. its almost like the scene died.. there hasnt been a hitachi firmware release for like what.. 2 months or so now ? and samsung is about the same way here pretty soon..

whats going on.. did microsoft buy out c4e , gary , birdy , and others ?

bleh.. some news would be nice.. ya know ?

Hmm. Buy out? Me, never, I been in the Video Gaming Business for 20 years now, I not going anywhere else.

I know there has not been a new package from us for the Hitachi since 8/8/2006 7:51am, but there is good things in store for those
that wait, and Maximus did a good job on his Stealth Firmware Maker after our last release, and then Germina did a good job with his
updated and fixed "Birdy" package with Media Detect v2 so I think there has been some movement in the "scene" since then, and
as for us, besides spenting time answering tons and tons of emails, messages, pm's, phone-call's, etc, etc. We have also been hard
at work on new things, plus trying to get out hands on the new Hitachi 0078fk we can find a way to dump and flash it, as this new
drive has been patched to stop the usage of "memdump" and "flashsec" programs, and the "debug" button on the Team-X kits.

Anyhow, enough idle chat for now, must get back to "pages and screens of hexadecimal".

Gary @ OPA, how is the progress on the Hitachi stealth FW going? I've read somewhere back at the end of October that you were working hard on it but since then not much. Major problems, will it not work... Or just a few bits to go?

Good luck getting ahold of GaryOPA

I know the guy's given us excellent firmwares thus far. . .

But he's all but dropped off the planet recently

This really doesn't seem like him.

I just hope he's ok.
59  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: MS25 system freezing after flash with 4.2a on: November 26, 2006, 03:12:57 PM
I know it's not a heating issue since I flashed the box back to stock and it played all originals fine and COD3 for over 1.5 hours straight without freezing.  This is something new.  ...  I know it's overheating, but something weird. is causing this.

That's what he's telling you, dummy.

Your DVD drive is running a tiny bit hotter with the firmware flash. It reads disks slightly different because backups aren't exactly like originals.

Apparently your 360 was ready to overheat anyway since 1.5 hours counts as a long session of luck on your system. I've played 12 hours strait on mine no problems.

Ventilate your 360 better.
60  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Stealth FW+Media on: October 20, 2006, 03:33:09 PM
The whole stealth firmware and media thing has me totally conused.

For instance, i backed up a disk, and then ran a stealth check on it through xbox backup creator and it said it was not stealthy, how od i make it stealthy?

I thouhgt to make it stealthy was to patch the ss, which ihave allready done, so it doesnt make sense.
Ahem. No.

Evidently you either need to study a whole lot more, or the variety of things involved in this are not simple enough for you to understand.

Either way, you posted this in the wrong forum.

This is the technical forum for programmers to discuss their theories amongst each other.
