Bang360: There was one post from C4E that was removed months before he even hacked the xbox1 firmware, where he bragged about being able to hack the 360 and xbox1. So thats why when he posted hacked firmware that didn't work, just about everybody called him a fraud. But he has since proved himself thats for sure.

One thing I read... I do not know if it is true or not because I do not have the spring update.
I know one of the features of the spring update is that the Game Titles display on the dashboard instead of the generic "Play game."
I have heard that this only works for Originals discs and backups still have the generic "Play Game."...
Can someone confirm if this is true or false?? That alone would prove that the console can see differences in the disc.
Na both backups and original games display the name on the dashboard.

OK, if you didn't ground your Xbox 360 you have fried the Elite MT chip in the DVD drive, it can be replaced and I have made a tutorial (look for it)...the drive that you posted the link for will work in your console as long as you have the key
gigabite
Read the problem before giving advice... Did the 10 sec trick and it started to flash bank00, bank01, bank02 then on 03 it brought a read fail floppy error. He does not need to buy a new drive or replace the Elite MT chip, he just needs to remove the vcc resistor and put a switch in place at most because his firmware is corrupted from a bad flash. Its very rare to even fry the Elite MT chip by not grounding, maybe 1 out 30 might give you problems...

Based on posts and findings users which updated there FW BEFORE they got the Spring Update did NOT get banned. People who updated AFTER they got the spring update got banned, i'm assuming there was some kind of check done in between 1) the spring update and 2) the Halo 3 BETA launch (as this is a BIG game with the community so they new people would want to download it, etc etc)...as for un-banning, some 360's have an EEPROM some don't (i've found that the ones that do are manufactured much earlier and also get 3RL)...the ones that do, could be a possibility of re-placing the EEPROM (like XBOX 1) IF the information is stored there, but then again - what about the boxes that DO NOT have an EEPROM Use LIVE at your own risk is all I have to say gigabite That has to be the dumbest idea I have ever heard. The chip your talking about is completely empty after leaving the production line. Also obviously this topic is not technical in anyway, so leave it up to the people with knowledge to open technical topics. > Trash

I think it's a good thing we collect information on wich info M$ is banning.
I try to make a start, please fill in more info. When all the info is in the list, I start a new topic.
---------------------------- Banned: (yes/no)
DVD Drive: (Samsung/Hitachi) DVD Version: (ms25/ms28/40/47/... etc)
(now the difficult part for each FW version + kernel used on) FW version used on kernel version, backups played (y/n): (x.x on xxxx backups x) (first firmware) FW version used on kernel version, backups played (y/n): (x.x on xxxx backups x) FW version used on kernel version, backups played (y/n): (x.x on xxxx backups x) FW version used on kernel version, backups played (y/n): (x.x on xxxx backups x) etc. FW version used on kernel version, backups played (y/n): (x.x on xxxx backups x) (latest firmware) ----------------------------
Hope this is a good start. When there is more info needed... please fill in the list.
For the sake of keeping things simple, please use this thread for collecting info http://www.xboxhacker.net/index.php?topic=7570.0

Since its been a long day and I am too lazy, I won't warn or ban any of the previous posters for discussing pirated games. But since its obvious that how you obtain the backup isn't relevant at the moment, any post past this point that contain talk about downloaded or scene release games will be removed. But don't hesitate to post information about your setup in general if you were banned or even if you haven't been banned yet. Also please keep a simple format when posting - Drive Model: Firmware Version (Also mention if you spoofed your firmware version): Live Status: Last Game Played: (Don't mention how you obtained the game though, its not relevant!)
Any other discussion or speculation talk should be done in the other thread: http://www.xboxhacker.net/index.php?topic=7566.0

well, something changed, now I get
ERR: Fail to open imput file!
can someone please tell me the commands I should be using, maybe thats the problem, Im using the new XBM (5.3 I think) and I have put in the new defintion, when I get to dos I type in
MTKFLASH W /M X53D.BIN.BIN
Is there another way to do it, I've seen something about xflash, but Im not sure how to use it is it something like
xflash xxxxxxx xxxxx
"ERR: Fail to open imput file!" Means that it can't find the file on your floppy disk. It looks like your typing the name incorrectly. Maybe try MTKFLASH W /M X53D.BIN

Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Re: Ubuntu on 360

First I'd like to say really very well done guys! I bought an XBox just so I could do this. I had a feeling a few days ago that something was going to happen and luckily my feeling proved to be correct.
However I have a couple of questions.
Firstly, where can I buy, or how do I make the serial cable that is used?
Does this require soldering somehow? Is there any clear guide anywhere on how to obtain this cable?
Also is it only possible to run a file system via this cable, or can Linux be run naively from the Xbox 360 harddrive?
I'm just asking as I wonder if this is the reason it was running so slow in the video?
Presumably a native harddrive install would be much faster?
If I understood this correctly in the video you are running a compressed Linux file system over a slow serial cable - which means that it is really unsurprising that it would run so slowly.
Once this is done, is it possible to have Linux booting directly from the harddrive and to not have to use the serial cable at all, after a native installation is complete?
If not, is it likely that this will ever be possible at any point in the foreseeable future?
Does the XBox 360 harddrive support partitioning? I mean can I partition the drive so that there is still some room left over for official XBox content?
Sorry if these questions sound dumb - but as I said, I bought my 360 for this purpose alone. (I don't even own any games for it yet).
So I really am very interested in learning exactly what it is I need to succeed in doing this.
1. Check out this topic for working serial cables and how to build one. http://www.xboxhacker.net/index.php?topic=7017.02. Yes it requires soldering and the connection points can be found in speedy22's XBOX 360 Motherboard Headers and Connector pdf. 3. We are running Linux from the 360 hard drive 4. The reason it is slow is because we are not using the gpu for 2d accel. Xorg is running off the frame buffer. It would take months of effort to get a working gpu driver if not more. 5. Once again its running from the 360 hard drive. 6. Nope 7. Not currently, you still need to execute XELL every time you boot Linux. 8. Theres a chance somebody might make an embedded KingKong shader that would allow you to do this without a serial cable. But booting directly without King Kong is still a long ways away. 9. Not currently, you have to wipe the drive clean, meaning you must take a backup first if you ever want to use the harddrive for 360 content again. Also remember this is not possible right now for the average user, even with a serial cable you will still have to cross compile Xell along with a kernel to boot a Linux shell and since tmbinc has not released the Xorg drivers publicly it is not possible to run gnome without the drivers. We were lucky enough to get an early version.
