Your bios don't need to see the drive to be able to read/flash with mtkflash.

I wrote a NFS most wanted PAL iso to 4.5GB DVD-R and it's working.
Also, I tried some xbox 1 games which were already in single layered DVD. They work fine also.
On your xbox 1 they worked but they will never work on a 360 without the SS with a layerbreak and DVD+R DL and DVD-ROM bitsetting with the samsung...

Sounds like your drive is bricked. Not much you can do exept desoldier the flash and use a programmer or pay to get it fixed or buy a new drive.

Just play the original game and save the backup in a safe place.
292  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Samsung Firmware have a problem !!!!!!!! on: July 29, 2006, 06:53:15 PM
Your in the wrong place then...
The firmware works just fine, the samsung just deals with backups in a different way then the hitachi.
293  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Samsung f/w=ms28 does not alow to extract fw on: July 29, 2006, 06:44:18 PM
Ok, so is anyone thinking about porting the hack to this version of the fw?
this one appears, like many say, to not require updates, so that would be a plus
Huh?
This firmware has nothing to do with updates. The console doesn't care what firmware version the dvd-rom is for updates. Game updates are for bug fixes, console updates add new features and patch security holes. So I would doubt the firmware version would ever matter.

Goto www.xbox-scene.com all the tutorials and info you need can be found there.

295  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 "Modding" / Re: AUDIO/VIDEO CONNECTOR PICTURE on: July 29, 2006, 12:51:28 PM
It should work if you got the right cable and wire it right. Make sure you double check everything before hooking it up so you don't fry anything.

You guys should really be giving credit to Geremia, if it wasn't for him no one would have had any idea how to fix this.

Maybe problems can occur when the flash contain a crashing code that freezes the drive on powerup, this case you can try to desolder R408 (the 0 value resistor on flash VCC) and put a switch to OFF, then poweron the drive, then switch ON the flash VCC just prior to use mtkflash. This way the drive should not boot and crash, it should just start and boot nothing, just like in a situation of an empty flash.

Theres no layout for the mobo side but free60 has the cable side. It should do the job.

A 'by the way question' re the MS28 drives....

If the hardware is the same between the MS25 and MS28, (H/W: 005) and the only difference is the fw, does that mean that once the drive is flashed with either MS25 or the xtreme fw, that it becomes readable by MTKflash without having to use the vcc switch trick?
Yes, there was just something in the firmware that wouldn't allow it to flash. So if you flash it with ver ms25 it will become flashable without the vcc trick.
299  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Samsung f/w=ms28 does not alow to extract fw on: July 28, 2006, 07:05:06 PM
with so many differences, I'd like to ask both of you to re-dump it again after a fresh reboot and all and see if the files are different from your initial dumps. it'd be very unusual if they differed this greatly.
I think they both already flashed theres with the hacked firmware, if you guys did don't post that.

Just a thought, seems like a LOT of changes... Maybe it's just offset by a few bytes like some of the Hitachi fw's?
He posted a MS25 firmware I updated it with his real MS28 firmware. Theres 56000 difference, so ones gotta be a bad dump.
