Go into your device manager and see if there are any unknown devices.

Finally came across at MS28 and I was wondering which VIA controller cards work best with the 10second trick. I need to pickup a PCI card and don't wanna pick up the wrong one. Any input would be greatly appriciated.

Personal experience says yes.
I have a hitachi and ever since they announced media steath for samsung i have been creating media stealth backups (hopefully for full function in the future) and my 46D can read them just fine.

even the first version of the media check should have helpd you out. i have same setup and it works great everytime

The first media patch worked great for me... but i do have the burner for it (111d). I would appreciate it if there was a way we could choose to use this new media patch or not if what said is true (easier Live detection) because all the games i have backedup now work 100%

I have a 46D and when my drive was in Mode B it stayed ejected the whole time (which isnt a big deal). If your still getting an error try to flash it again. I used the Slax method tho, so im not so keen on the cross wire method, but Mode B is Mode B... it should also take 2 button pushes to get the drive to go in/out.

Try flashing again, it cant hurt anything.

Second, we only backup games that we legally own.

What is the exact error you are getting? is it "Open Tray"? "Dirty Disc"? or "please insert disc into x360?"

For the second time.... NO! That's a DVD writer and the current firmware does not support that drive.
