why do you always pitch in with that stupid comment that "We don't even need drive mods anymore, I cant believe they even still bother to make them"
not everyone has a JTAGGED console, and the number of these is finite ie they will eventually run out.
so therefore in able to play backups of our original games on a regular xbox the majority of people do indeed need a drive mod.
and why should we be banned? for playing a backup? what about the assholes that mod COD and ruin the online experience for everyone else? thats a bit worse than playing a game as its meant to be. JTAGS should be banned as well as the GT attached to them never mind fw mods what a load of crap.
i dont know about you but i pay enough for live and the games to let my 4 year old kid ruin every original disc i own.
once i buy a game i rip it and store it away from him. if he fooks the copy disc up its no big deal. easier on my pocket to teach him about looking after discs if its only costing me 50p to replace them.
back on topic
i would have thought that the detection of the modded fw would have been implemented long long ago when Xtreme/iXtreme was out as it was much more easier to detect than LT
and if they were able to simply dump the drive, why hasnt it been done already? why bother to ban people on differences in timing and responses etc if they could just read the fw.

i have been reflowing 360's for about a year now prob done around 500+ so far with mostly positive results only a handful have came back for a second reflow within 6 to 8 weeks.
personally i drill out the steel chassis to ensure that the bolt heads do not cause the board to bend when reassembled.

why do people find it so hard to follow a readme?
building a freeboot image with ibuild is so easy my 4 year old son could do it.
you have everything you need to build a freeboot image so why the hell do you not do it the way the included readme in the freeboot package tells you to?
point and click apps are for lazy noobs who are too impatient to take 10 mins out of their busy lives to read.

I haven't JTAGed one yet but I did a little research on it. I still have a couple questions though...
Isn't it primarily done on a box that's not intended to play M$ disks anymore?
Can you get a key from a box where you've lost it? I thought that the key was required to decrypt the dump.
a little reasearch sound right all your statements there are complete rubbish the JTAG hack is primarily done on a box that has a dashboard kernal lower than 7371, and its intention is to remove all of the security features of the hypervisor to allow us complete control of the system and to allow us to boot unsigned xex's. you can get a DVD key from a JTAGGED unit by booting XELL which will then display the consoles CPU key which you then use in 360flashtool to decrypt the keyvault to display the DVD key and region etc. you seem a little confused/misled/lazy there friend

i would go as far as 2 log are viewed from this 1) drive belt dies? laser goes out? trackes are messed up with hair or dust? but unit is still plugged in...so logged as 'not so bad'. 2) drive completely unhooked logged but to the bad.... we can check this by extracting secdata with both ways of logging.....
i dont think point 1 would matter, its only if there is no sata device connected to the port that a flag is saved, not wether the drive is jamming or not reading discs etc.

Other Systems / Playstation 3 / Re: Where can i get GOOD quality kes400aaa lasers?
|

Disc not spinning is most likely a laser problem. The disc is inserted in the drive, but the laser is too weak for the drive to recognize it. Therefore it does not start to spin. I have fixed many ps3's which had the same problem by replacing the laser.
this is the case for pretty much any optical media drive on the market especially the console drives

if you power your console without a dvd rom attached to the sata port you will be flagged for a ban.
how can they, what if the sata dies then they can ban your system, for a falty dvd rom? no but when you send it back to them to repair (as you should) then they can reset the counter and void any flag they have on file once they are satisfied that you havent done anything against the TOS a flag is not necessarily an instant ban, more like a counter as Tiros has stated, once the counter hits a certain number then a ban will be issued.

only way to check the nand chip itself is to remove it from the mobo and read/write to it externally.
im in UK and i can help you but to date i have not had to short the pins as ive managed to do the JTAG hack successfully on the 20 odd plus consoles ive done.

Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: help how to unbend the motherboard
|
on: June 27, 2010, 05:59:12 PM

the RROD is due to broken connections on one of the BGA connections
the bending of the board during heat cycles will cause this of course, but its not like the board is permanently bent, and you need to unbend it.
you need to restore the connections to the chips, either by reflow or ideally reballing with a lead based solder.

you can reflow successfully with a heatgun I've done hundreds with 100% sucess rate
its all in the technique
but as Reverse has said, red light on PSU means short, and if its under the GPU then its reball time!!
if the short has gone and you are back to 0102 id suggest sending it to someone like Reverse to lift the GPU and see whats happening.
if its just a mess around board then forget about it and try another one!!

Mind you I struggled with the DB1F1 connection, its on there but not very well...
the proof is in the pudding when you boot the console first time if it doesnt work then this will prob be the issue the first time i tried the DB1F1 point i f***ed it up big style, after a bit of practice soldering to the ROL board points to flip the LED colours i was able to solder and remove the DB1F1 point quite easily.
