its already out in the wild....
as for the DVD oig info, with any luck it will be patched out, but for anyone wishing to revert their console back to retail for live etc they may be out of luck.
i have not studied any slim nands to see if the missing data can be got from it, it must be there or else what is the console looking for?
perhaps one of the more skilled coders can shed some light on if we can ressurect these boxes that had 74850 drive butchered into them.

interesting
i read on xbox-scene that some guy had tried to use an hdss.bin from a slim 250gb drive, and hddhackr extracted the hdss.bin ok, but when he flashed it to a WD, the drive wasnt recognised, as if m$ had introduced some new security feature to the drives.
seems they havent for the slim 320gb!

lol! perhaps you should RTFM.... and to answer your question on hdd size, once a 'rebooter' is compiled/released for the glitch hack, hopefully the hdd size limit will be patched the same as with freeboot, you can install any size hard drive you like. on a retail, the most you can install is 320gb, which you can make using hddhackr and a 320gb hdss.bin file (when released).

currently the glitch hack only lets you boot XELL, there is no hacked kernal for it yet so currently you cant do anything.
you do not need any kits to dump nand it can be done using an LPT cable, a diode and a few resistors easily.
you do know you can install the games to the hard drive on a retail, unmodded console? insert game and press y on its title screen and choose install to hard drive.
you still need the disc in the drive but it plays from the hard drive.

a sata port is a small rectangular black connector found on the motherboard. and will look the same as the connectors found on the xbox 360 motherboard and the 360 dvd drive.
only a sata cable can fit into this port, so if you have found a port that the sata cable fits into then it must be a sata port.
Jungleflasher is PC program that handles all of the firmware modification/spoofing/flashing etc. its all you need. dosflash does the same thing but is more for advanced users, you wont need this app if you have jungleflasher.
it is very easy to make a mistake during this process which will render your console useless, so please understand peoples criticisms when you come on here and ask fundimental questions that have been answered literally thousands of times. and the fact you cant even identify a sata port is a pretty bad start to a thread titles i know this - you really dont!!
the only tutorial you will need is the JF one stop confusing yourself trying to learn every flashing technique, concentrate on learning the workings of JF and you will be sweet.

i had a look also but couldnt find the thread, its definately on here though.
basically the OP made a small PCB that was connected to the ROL board and when the centre LED blinked for eject, it then set the voltage to the correct status for open/close.
i will keep looking for you!

if you are uncomfortable soldeing direct to the via then yes you can solder to the trace leading from it, just make sure the cut is making the via isolated.
its not a hard mod to do at all just take your time and remember never ever tug a wire once its soldered.
these people you read about cant solder for $#!t and TBH if you cant either its best perhaps leaving it to someone else to do.

why do you want to move the points especially to a location so close to the original?
the different soldering point for the red line (in your diagram) is fine but the trace cut cannot be moved to where you are proposing it.
your trace cut does not isolate the yellow via point (in your diagram) from the one directly below it, it must be completely isolated.
edit: i noticed that my original post colour scheme did not match the actual pictures, so i changed the wiring diagram so it was the same to avoid any confusion.
