1602  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Liteon 0800 with SATA-to-USB enclosure? on: July 16, 2009, 04:35:36 AM
nice work i love mods like this, inspiring me to do something similar as i have a few spare drives here that will be better at ripping games than my kreon which is starting to die on me as i have used it for so long.

cant wait to see it all finished

1603  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: Liteon wierd noises on: July 16, 2009, 04:16:31 AM
i cant make out anything in those pics far too blurry sorry they are no help

also your 1st video is no use in it you are only looking at it when it is off turning it around shows me nothing.

the 2nd video proves my point, the drive only powers the laser to see if a disc is there, and the worm gear only nudges it a bit not enough to force the gear to buzz, i bet it buzzes like mad when its in the 360 as the 360 will make the laser jump to the edge of the disc during booting.

in the 3rd pic notice the large white plastic part that is attached to the laser.

inside it is a spring that forces a small plastic part against the worm gear check that it is there i have taken a pic of a liteon i have for your reference.

you look at this from the top of the drive not the underside

If this spring is missing then the worm gear cannot push the laser back and forth and you get an awful biuzzing noise.

I first encountered this sort of issue back in the PS2 days the lasers in those used a plastic lever arm on the gear instead of a spring; that over time with heat and stress developed creep and failed.

my m8 sent me over a drive ms25 from england a few years back and i modded it for him .

unknown to me, the spring popped out during transit and when he got it back he phoned me with the same problem, buzzing and no loading.

there are only two moving parts in the drive that can make a buzzing/grinding noise - the tray mechanism and the worm gear. if the spring is there, look over the tray mechanism

i have also added a pic of a functioning tray mechanism

you have to take the tray out to see this fully.

open the tray and flip the drive over and you will see two little tabs you have to push to slide the tray fully out.

compare your drive to my pic to make sure the gears and belt are all in place ok.

if all else fails buy a new drive and flash it with your key.
1604  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: SS v2 compatibilty on: July 15, 2009, 05:32:30 PM
I suppose "Added - Support for iXtreme 1.6 Liteon" could have implied SSv2 being that it's a feature of 1.6, but it wasn't clear to me.  Thanks for the clarity Intersect.  I use XBC anyway, so I'm good.

Also, I noted that the liteon read straight through a disc that my Kreon kept getting read errors on.  It wasn't scratched, but the Kreon would get about half way and error out.  I thought I had a bum pressed disc, but it worked in the box and I didn't want to have to return it.  Odd...

sounds like the laser is going...

some people do it coz each time they tighten it and try it still 3rod and they dont realize how sensitive the chipsets are.

do you charge for the service? if you do then i personally would welcome them!!
1606  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Re: Screws + Motherboard - nylon washers= Idiot! on: July 15, 2009, 08:29:32 AM
you guys, (gaz), are so quick to be a dick, I was "ranting" because i am constantly fixing systems that are f***ed up by people going online and tightening the $#!t out of screws to the point where its metal to copper....which is just stupid to begin with, but the thing that is screwing up the system is the fact that to do that usually bends the $#!t out of the mobo. But, $#!t, im just a girl....and you, my pimpy superior...are a f****** GOD. Sorry for tainting your neighborhood with my noobish and unnecessary opinion.  Wink Cheesy Everyone else, thanks for your hospitality. This ste is the $#!t, and i have benefitted from quite a lot from the info i've got here. Thanks again.

your rant is unneccesary and pointless if you h8 it stop fixing em simple.

and FYI the pads are designed to have a metal contacting it, its a ground!! wiki it if you dont know what it is for.
1607  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: Liteon wierd noises on: July 15, 2009, 08:23:39 AM
the vendor mode button simply resets the drive for you without having to power cycle it and change ports twice it will not cause mechanical fault in drive.

your log seems fine it has tried to dump keys twice, 1st time fine second time not and it has erased and written to the drive correctly so it seems.

the pc does not send any commands to the drive in the same way the 360 does for accessing discs etc when flashing unless you have started it with tray half open when ix 1.6 is installed.

so you obviously will not get the same noises as the laser does not do anything it picks up that there is a disc and spins it but it does not seek.

did you try putting the drive into the 360 with no case on it to see what is making the noise?

the sound will not magically go away by flashing it over and over, or sending vendor intro commands you need to open it and investigate.

the laser could be dead heard a few ppl complaining about lasers dying during/after flashing which is wierd coz it shouldnt happen at all as flashing does not involve the laser.
1609  Research & Technical XboxHacking (Xbox 360) / DVD-ROM Drive and Media / Re: Writing stage freezes on: July 12, 2009, 06:16:20 PM
what type of drive you flashing?

as you are in dos i assume its sammy/benq/liteon and is now bricked due to bad flash.

restart the pc and try again you will have to erase drive using l-o-erase or dosflash then try again.

should work out if not try JF in windows with portio drivers but may not work out too well as the drive is bricked and may make your PC freeze when it is powered on.

IMHO dosflash is best less to go wrong.
1610  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: Liteon wierd noises on: July 12, 2009, 06:11:41 PM
the only thing i can add is that ballsing up a flash sequence would not result in a mechanical fault with the drive.

i would follow arakons advice and strip the drive completely and run it out of its case to see what the fault is.

once it is open you should be able to spot what is making the noise.

if the laser has got jammed the worm gear would let out a hell of a buzz and also check that the spring has not popped out of the laser body i have had that happen b4 to a m8 who lived in england and i sent his drive back minus spring and he rang me telling me it was buzzing like mad and not reading i bet you thats the problem!!
1611  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: What media to burn the 360 games? on: July 12, 2009, 01:15:54 PM
i use the cheapest media available no problems at all.

sure it kills laser but they are like £10 and easy to replace prob cheaper than buying the more expensive media in the long run
1612  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Apart from piracy why hack the 360? on: July 08, 2009, 02:09:51 PM
flashing the xbox only allows you to play backups, or if you have a downgradeable console you can do KK exploit to run linux thats about it.
1613  Research & Technical XboxHacking (Xbox 360) / DVD-ROM Drive and Media / Re: Liteon Vs Samsung vs Hitachi vs Benq on: July 06, 2009, 05:38:48 AM
yes, but the point with liteon is that its more effort to extract the key.

wow holding that spear is really gruelling!! wise up.

have you tried flashing it with portio drivers if you know the port that the drive is attached to?

Well, my suggestion is that i let someone with the technical knowledge and skill, who has the equiptment and understanding of the programming in that little black beasty, do what they do best.

My other suggestion is that giggatitty stop, think and realise that all those "alternate" points do is let you test the same data lines closer to the IC, now, unless the impedance or inheritant capacitance of the extra, what 1 - 2 inch's of track is what is causing the key read to not work, than hey!! WTF, give it a whirl, BUT !!! if giggity had actually done his reading, before he said hey! try the other points it works (whatever) than i would have just kept reading and not bothered to stop and feed the trolls.

OH, and before you try and stand up for giggles, read some of his post-whoring 3k odd posts, ~95% are pure drivel, the quality of which makes this little ramble from me seem worthy of publishing in the Oxford Journals.

here here seconded!!
1617  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: Help with new HITACHI-LG DVD DRIVE ROM VER 79FK!!1 on: July 01, 2009, 02:21:35 PM
if you have bought this drive to replace the one on your own console the only thing you require is your DVD key.

hitachi drives are not flashed like the rest, the fw is altered byte by byte around the key, not a complete reflash if an image so you dont need an original fw.

dump the new drives fw and then use JF to spoof the key, then patch to the drive using JF

or if you search around for an old tut i made donkeys ago you can patch the key maually in a dos prompt, then flash the drive to ixtreme 1.6 as normal.

pm me if you need guidance

1618  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: hitachi 47 cdkey on: July 01, 2009, 06:08:34 AM
Pfft, use one of those red electrical testing thingys with a fat flathead driver on the end that fits in the holes a treat, no marks  Grin

thats how my mates got f***ed, coupled with his ignorance and impatience.

i wouldnt tell ppl to do $#!t that could end up giving them problems later on.

the opening tool is best IMHO ive had mine for years and its never failed me as i have looked after it.
1619  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: hitachi 47 cdkey on: July 01, 2009, 04:50:26 AM
nah i think ill stick with the opening tool lol that looks like its asking for trouble.
