2  Research & Technical XboxHacking (Xbox 360) / DVD-ROM Drive and Media / Re: Liteon secrets? I'll share something with you on: November 30, 2009, 08:39:57 PM
The fact is, this scene is a ungrateful whore. Ungrateful, biased and horribly naive. Learn a little and then come to the plate and make accusations.

We're not all ungrateful, I for one am very appreciative of all the hard work put in, now and in the past, by everyone involved in the scene.

I think the problem is that most people are siding with geremia as they don't seem to realise that the information he released means that particular backdoor will now be closed whereas had it been kept secret you guys could have used this route to find an alternate method for key dumping on current and future drives.  It's pretty obvious that ms knew nothing of this method, if they had then they surely would have made some preventative measures so it couldn't be exploited on lo93.

You mentioned previously that work was progressing on a new method for the lo93, can I ask if this was looking promising or maybe the lo93 actually was that 'last resort' situation?  Who knows, ms may have been planning completely new drives after the 93 anyway in which case releasing this info does no harm at all.

Either way, what's done is done, personally I can't vilify geremia for giving the game away, like many people he was unhappy with the way the whole thing was being handled (foundmy) and decided to do something to stop the same thing happening again.  Also, with re-epoxyed drives out in the wild someone was going to work out what was going on eventually anyway.

Personally I think if it wasn't for the whole foundmy fiasco we wouldn't be in this situation now.  As I've said, I'm truly grateful to everyone involved in the scene and it's great how everyone works together so well.  I also think that the level of knowledge required and hours of work put in shouldn't go unrewarded but at the end of the day you're meant to be doing this because it's something you enjoy and not for financial benefit, right now it looks to me like greed took over.  Maybe next time you should just ask for contributions/donations. get over it, you must have a pretty easy life if something as insignificant as gifs on a bbs causes you to hate people.

Shocked Shocked  I'm hoping you meant $10AU - Brand new drives can be picked up for less than £20 here in the UK

edit - oops, not sure how I ended up in the PS3 section, I though you guys were talking 360... my bad  Undecided

only 2 games so far so wait because they are a new one coming soon called 1.60 so no rush yet just hold off till we see more..

1.60 only adds the ability to hook the drive up to your pc and read games. nothing else.
7  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Re: IXtreme 1.51 and Jungleflasher 1.51 on: March 07, 2009, 04:10:31 PM
I've updated my first Lite-On from 1.5 > 1.51 today and I've got a few questions regarding the extra serial info...

As JF told me my 1.5 firmware didn't contain this info does this mean that 1.5 (and previous) wasn't totally secure from detection?
If this info isn't detectable are we just now including it as an extra measure 'just in case' and if so is it something MS could start checking for which could get you banned?
Is it only Lite-On drives that carry this info?

(I added the serial info from the stickers on the drive for the one I upgraded)

False information is false.

Sorry.

Having said that, does the release of IX1.5 for lite-on necessarily mean that the original firmware was ever fully recovered?

Errr... Yeah the orig firmware was dumped, we wouldn't have an iXtreme version otherwise.  I think people want the orig firmware so they restore drives if they need to return consoles to MS.

Actually I meant the thread was 2 years old.  I can see that you might want credit where (and if) it's due and if you'd piped in 2 years ago I could understand but I don't see why you've bothered to dredge up an old post and basically started shouting 'Me Me Me'?  What is it exactly you're after... Will you sleep better at night if TMF changes his original post to give a nod in your direction?

As for being mad about using others ideas and not contributing... I'm not mad, it's just that your first post came across as arrogant which is why I replied, you instantly acuse others of stealing your 'work' and being posers and hacks but I'm pretty sure that tmf has contributed more to the scene than you ever will.  Me?  yeah like more than 99% of the people on here I use others ideas but I try to help and pass on what I've learnt to others who need help, I like to read the technical threads and try to understand a bit more where I can.  I know enough to realise the amount of work some of the guys who make the genuine breakthroughs put in to the scene, and also to realise that spotting an unused fan header is not something that warrants the attitude you seem to have come here with.  So, as I said before...

get over yourself.

ffs this is 2 years old  Shocked and it's not like it's some kind of major breakthrough you made, you found a point to attach a fan connector, and who's to say you're the only one who did?  Even if TMF *did* get the idea from your post and fail to give credit... get over yourself already. Tongue

14  Research & Technical XboxHacking (Xbox 360) / DVD-ROM Drive and Media / Re: Flashing Replacement Drive on: November 12, 2008, 08:26:24 AM
dude, chill out, no need to get your back up.

All I was doing was pointing out that what you said sounded a bit ott, yes we all know that hitachi's are flashed in sectors but software such as toolbox takes care of this for the majority of people...  I haven't manually flashed individual sectors one at a time for ages.

My advice was "If you have hacked firmware with the correct key then you can just flash it to the new drive with toolbox" but your post afterwards makes it look as if this is incorrect and will KILL HIS DRIVE!

15  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Re: xbox360 Serial Tracker on: November 12, 2008, 05:52:16 AM
There are already sites that keep track of mfr date, drive type, region code, etc mainly for the purpose of identifying the type of drive a console is likely to have.  You mention 'DVD key generator' but no other information such as the serial no is in any way linked to the DVD key otherwise we would have done this ages ago... I have probably 600-800 serials/keys but unfortunately it's just not possible to create a key generator using this information.

18  General / Junkyard/Sewer/Dumpster/Landfill / Re: burning xbox 360 downloaded game halo 3 on: November 03, 2008, 07:02:55 PM
ALL downloadable games are actually fake files that will always fail to burn, the only way to make a backup is to create it from your original disc, would you like advice on how to do this?
