861  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: what secondary error code is this? on: August 06, 2008, 10:17:59 PM
I think the reason your getting a weird code is because the little ball which determines if the console is lying down or standing up is touching both sides of it's little thing (so it thinks the console is standing up and lying down)...shake it and make sure you lie it flat again (anyone of you with a working console or even a non working console can replicate this if you tilt the console on and angle and turn it on) - do you have all your screws in ? have you tired any x-clamp fixes etc

^^ I have to agree, go with a Samsung - they last WAY longer...are quieter (IMHO) and read DVD's better

occasionally myself I get a drive which is kind of "stuck" in modeB / so when you put it into the console and try play a game it says "please insert blah blah"......you did take out the wires you put in the cable ?  If you did check the end that you placed them in very carefully as the little latch of metal that goes on top of the plastic to hold it in may have come off...simply push it back to it's normal position then hot glue it (or you can tape it) in place

yes, in fact with it you will NOT need the VCC switch - if your so scared that it's not going to work or you messed it up (even though it works...which means you have done it correctly) take a *good* picture of the damage and post it up

if you didn't solder it properly...no it wouldn't work - use MTKflash...get a VIA card - use Xtreme Boot Maker (36 version) to make you a custom hex edited flash and the rest i've explained like a million times Wink

try this tutorial http://www.sendspace.com/file/54szt0 (I use the crosswire method...like in this tutorial I made...all the time to get drives into modeB, quicker then Slax)

I hope it kind of doesn't drift off the thread, but ok so these games get stored on the HDD (which we have full acsess to) and theirs a check that says check if this game is in the drive.  How is such check implemented (yes I know it's not "out" yet and the system may change etc etc)...and bearing in mind (signature wise)would it be possible to exploit ?  and is the correct DVD key needed to rip the game to HDD (please be no Cheesy...but please test it seriously)?? btw..."The system is an OS, based on the structure is based Ping 17" and all the other "comments" if you will - seriously I could invent something better Wink

Have you tried flashing it at all ??  If not the laser is most likely dead, replace it and it should work fine...one thing I found is with 3RL consoles some have been sitting around for ages waiting for a fix or whatever so when you do power them up a couple of times they might not read the disk.  What i'm trying to say is the laser needs kind of like a "wake up call" (for that...just keep trying to load your disk a couple of times and reboot a few times also)

just to let you know (if you didn't already)...once it's in modeB the drive takes 2 pushes to eject - if that doesn't help I suggest using my tutorial for the cross wire method (don't worry with 1K resistor you can't brick your drive)...windows should NOT be slow for this to work...post back | what is your chipset ?

yes the new ones can be removed (even the ones that I have only seen once...and never before which are designed to basically rip in 3 different sections, there is a pic I posted here somewhere) - not the right place to post shyboy but the best drive (IMHO) to play games is the Samsung

872  Research & Technical XboxHacking (Xbox 360) / Software (TECHNICAL) / Re: iDGTool Development on: July 29, 2008, 08:13:09 PM
just downgrade the software on your Infectus chip and wala...it can be done and i have done it before many times, I havn't looked at the GUI for a while so I don't know exactly where it is but last time I remembered it was somewhere under advanced something.  Basically you erase the whole chip on the infectus etc etc (personally i'd just stay with the 0.3.6 version - none of this make sure you select this instead of that...more "manually" operated)

...it doesn't need to be detected in the BIOS...as long as you get the message in Slax you know your in modeB, when booting up XP where it has the little bar that moves...continuesly press eject (basically open shut open shut a couple of times) until that screen has gone away - after XP boots it should assign your drive a letter, post back and go from there

depends on your budget...and your location (oh and your parts)...personally for something not to bad I can recommend the Thermaltake Soprano VX (easy to carry but...doesn't actually come with the handles attached to it per sa`) and pretty much anything from Antec, Lian Li also do some really nice ones (bit pricey though)

^^ you have the motherboard screwed into the grounding shield and are using all screws except the 6 long case screws ? - what you are getting creatox can be caused by no ground (unless you have all the screws in that is)....if that doesn't help then try the x-clamp fix again but do a proper re-flow none of this leave the fans off for 20 min stuff Wink...I now use 2 washers underneath the board...1 on top for the cpu and 2 on top for the gpu and I don't screw through the grounding shield (reason:hardly any flexing/warping this way)...PM me if you want to know the process in a bit more detail (has changed a bit since that long post I wrote) to save the fight

What does this mean?!?  "The End is plastic".  Eh?  What end?  And "no eject buttons"?  What?!  There power supply does not have eject buttons.  I have no clue what you're saying.

He means the end that you plug into the 360...it has no "eject" buttons hes reffering to the bits of plastic that you can push in to release it from the 360

Do they not have Goo Gone where you live?  Terrorizm.

Artic Silver sells their "Articlean" product which works good too.  Just do not SCRATCH the bottom of the heatsinks no matter how you remove it.  Orange cleaner, your fingernail, and a paper towel, followed up with a non abrasive cleaning pad is the best bet.

No...no Goo Gone where I live (in a country that's more and more becoming like america...not saying it as a bad thing...yeah we just got TiVo pfff) - if you scratch the bottom of the heatsink no big deal you can just use some 600 grit sandpaper (dry/wet) with some water - rub only 1 way, then clean it again with a toothbrush and dish washing liquid...rinse thoroughly and your good Smiley - it actually gives you better heat transfer as your re-surfacing it...but I know some will probably debate that, seriously orange cleaner and a finger nail : / how about using a cotton tip...

there are hundreds of topics but i'll give you a quick run down (assuming you have a compatible SATA chipset) - use Xtreme Boot Maker (36 version) to make you a custom hex edited mtkflash (tick both options when making it and copy it to C:\ only use mtkflash.exe and mtkflash.typ and chuck those on a bootable whatever) - hook it all up (make sure you ground the 360) turn on the pc, load your bootable whatever then turn on your 360 and type in the command:

mtkflash r orig.bin

it should find your drive as Xtreme Primary Master : 1 (but your number may be different), turn off your 360...press 1 (or your number) and enter then turn your 360 back on again and it should detect your drive and read the firmware.....after you have read the firmware do what you need to do with it then basically repeat the process over again except use the command:

mtkflash w whateveryourfirmwareiscalled.bin

and your done
