if you want to play your current back-ups (assuming they are in fact not properly stealthed) you will need to use something like Xtreme 2.4, 12x will just make it read at 12x speed...it will not make a difference to if the game works or not

If your back-ups are not working...and your sure 100% that you flashed your drive (sounds like you did) then your back-ups are not properly stealthed or burned incorrectly (or crap media or your laser is bad)

I don't know what the value is...or where to get replacements (I source mine form dead Hitachi boards as I have alot) but I know there are 2 versions of the X201 component.  One type is exactly what you see in the picture Loneh  posted, the other type is black and has an extra little piece like a top to it and if you remove the top of it it will still works fine - on a side note how come everyone always knocks this one off...epoxy is so easy to remove I think if your removing it apart from applying to much pressure and/or not having the right type of blade you havn't got your heat hot enough (or your going at it from the wrong angle)

805  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Re: Xbox 360 does not play dvds after August 2008 dashboard update on: September 02, 2008, 09:45:55 AM
...hhhhh this happens *every* time there is an update out or a "major" update out - in short simply put you happened to be unlucky...it's NOTHING to do with the update itself | you have your options

1. Depending on how bad the damage is wait until the next update is out

2. Send it to M$

3. If you happen to have alot of time, experience, money and patience (and an old model...quite rare) grab an Infectus

oh and your probably like the first person I have seen in ages who actually used the search box Wink

well apart from using iXtreme 1.4 and making sure your back-ups are 100% stealth there is nothing else you can do, as it says in the README "use on xbox live at your own risk" (btw I agree with Revolt)

going to be flashing...well it's highly unlikely you would get something that old heres a hint Wink Go for Xtreme 5.3 or higher (iXtreme 1.4) Wink 116DBK yeap that would work perfectly fine to

808  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: TSST TS-h652D info on: August 31, 2008, 09:48:56 AM
bit setting is not needed anymore unless you have something like Xtreme 4 downward iirc - but personally I would say get a Pioneer 111D (or any of the 11x's///115DBK for instance for perfectly also)

809  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 "Modding" / Re: xbox dvd drive spoofing on: August 31, 2008, 07:49:27 AM
yeah that's possible...except for the fact that that stuff is logged locally (so yes it can see the difference between two drives, but it will still work however you may get banned/logged on XBL) I think what you would want to do is use an iXtreme and if your really paranoid get dual boot so you switch between drive chips and not drives which is a whole lot easier

sound like your dash update was bad....wait until the fall update to fix it or send it to M$ (unless you want to spend $$ and time and get an Infectus and go that route assuming your box is old ?)

811  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: how to unlock hitachi if spoofed on: August 30, 2008, 09:46:56 PM
Well...yes technically if you didn't kill any components along the journey yes it should work...but to re-flash the TSOP...your going to need to boot from it, then take it off/switch to the other one while the Xbox is running then re-flash - so unless I thought of that incorrectly that's going to be mighty hard (unless you just press on the TSOP and hope you make a connection on all the pins and swap it over or wire the SST directly to the Xbox TSOP  Embarrassed) but if you had a socket that could be done hmmm

812  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: hitachi drive help needed - bad flash recover on: August 30, 2008, 07:40:37 AM
well mini-'using the very likely possibility you killed the SST chip or you work isn't 100% perfect (i.e bridges or killed components whatever) yes you can recover from the 2 wire trick....replace the MT chip (that's the huge square chip with stacks of legs) - not really worth it unless you have lots of time and a stack of boards...a new DVD drive is cheap now days

I stand corrected (but not on #xbins ?!) yet I can't modify my post to say 4.8 and list changes for those who want to know (maybe Arakon ?) so I don't make another thread

oh yeah, your right I forgot slax : / the second option was the passkey : p or like you said....dump it in an external programmer (PM if interested) - passkeys are easy and you can pick one up for very cheap now ($18AU over here)...lucky it's original firmware otherwise the passkey wouldn't have a chance of working (remember it detects if you have hacked firmware and stops it from putting it into mode B)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Maximus - FIRMWARE TOOLBOX V4.7
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Long time without update, well here is it with small additions

WHATS NEW ON V4.70:

   - ADDED:     Spoofing drives to Lite On model
   - ADDED:     Detect/Remove Hardware (DVD-ROM) (on File Menu)
   - ADDED:     Ixtreme 1.4 No-Check Bit firmware for 79 Drives
   - FIXED:     Several bugs.

Note: The No-check bit option for 79 drives is not set as default firmware
on Smart hack patcher option, you need to choose it from the list on the
Special Firmwares section, the reason is it could be unsafe and lead to M$
detection.

Congrats to geremia, c4e and all others for the latest Liteon releases

Download: get it from #xbins Wink

I don't know if it will work but if I thought of it correctly it should, try running 79Unlock (unless you have a spare passkey...I always like the solder option Smiley ) then once it's in modeB open up some key less firmware (http://www.freepler.de/userdaten/38928917/download/xbox360/v78.rar) and flash that, then restore to original state and proceed from there (a passkey will definitely get it into modeB as for 79Unlock on a 78...well afaik you would be the first to try it)

go higher then 15w for de-soldering capacitors (go to 40w as my 25w does struggle a bit) and replace them with the exact same type

820  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: Flashing with Firmware Toolbox not stealth on: August 28, 2008, 10:48:04 PM
restore it back to original state, then manually use the iXtreme 1.4 package (i.e the command prompt) not firmware toolbox and see if that help Wink
