seen it done heaps (dvd drive been put in a HD DVD case)..the dvd drive helps the air flow, without it your doing worse unless you add in more fans in the correct spots Wink - theirs one on here in the modding section but quite a few on youtube...there are no 3rd party dvd power extension cables, this has to be done manualy...make sure you use thick wire (i'd suggest also doubling up) and make it as short as possible

depending on what console it was running on (i.e an old console or a repaired unit) when you slap that HDD onto a new system you might find that everything is corrupted...no one knows why and no one can explain but you can back this up to your computer and also use other tools to get it back if you have problems

603  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: xbox360 hitachi dvd drive flashing error on: November 14, 2008, 07:05:24 AM
that you own - rip them with Schrotom 4.0 (name your image and press extract) and use XDVDMULLETER 10.2 Beta to make a .dvd file only (don't check stealth, you own it lol...of course it's stealth :p) and use that .dvd file in Clone CD and burn on Verbatim DVD + R DL at 2.4x burning speed.

Oh and you will need a "Kreon drive" - eBay those words (that's the special drive you need for ripping Xbox 360 games, i'd also advise getting a Pioneer Burner 11x as in 111,112,115 etc if your current burner doesn't burn well or you are having problems)

Although you can install and use Cygnos 360 on non-exploitable Xboxes as well

but what would be the point ??...you can't do anything without an exploitable kernal not unless you butcher your NAND and had a NAND dump...then this would be useful Smiley I got an idea for another mod chip for a different console lol if your interested in making it PM me Wink no seriously hehe (i'm a modder...it would be very popular !!)

The SR2 review copy was probably a dead giveaway

noooooo you think, nahh couldn't be...your one of like what 20 other million or more people who had something maybe only a select few should have (your like a guy who goes to a funeral with a green hat and an orange belt)...and then they say things like this when they get banned yet were warned but didn't take to it (again not just you mate Wink )

606  Xbox 360 / Tech Support 360 / Re: Heatgun RROD Fix on: November 14, 2008, 04:45:14 AM
sorry creatox I can't measure exactly how much heat the chips are getting (unless someone really wants to see that bad and want to send me an IR thermometer, i'd be happy to do it), I can say that that's not the direct temperature on the chips but i'd say it's fairly close.  My tip that I am using now is like imagine you have a full block of metal and you cut it on a diagonal and hollowed it all out...that's what i'm using so the heat that comes out is so much more even and nice...it is the perfect size of the CPU and GPU and if I put it on paper, browns it very nice (at highest temp) and evenly unlike the hollow circle tip I was using previously...

my heatgun is a GMC Platinum 2000w (http://www.gmcompany.com.au/index.cfm?module=products&pid=91) ahh I found the tip ! Go here (http://www.gmcompany.com/download/products/HG2000K_Manual.pdf) and look at number 12 on page 6/9, looks a bit retarded from the back - I was considering using 9 but it's oversized..like using a semi truck to pull a trailer

607  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Lite-on help on: November 14, 2008, 04:34:58 AM
maybe/maybe not..it's hard to tell the extent of what was damaged and also to what extent (sometimes you can hurt it a alot and it will work fine, sometimes you hurt it a little and that's it...im not referring to Lite On's specifically just in general electronics..pc's etc) without physically measuring and checking everything but it's worth a try cause that's about the only option you have left (unless this is your first time extracting a key from a Lite On and you just have a bad RS232...you may want to consider sending it to someone)Shocked

608  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: Flashed Samsung Drive but... on: November 14, 2008, 04:29:09 AM
you might have wrecked your laser or it might just be old and dying (these things happen), i'd say get a new one and replace it (there so cheap, PM if interested) and also have a soldering iron spare to remove the anti static solder blob (some eBayer's will do it for you for like $1 but then you have no static protection...your choice but it won't really get damaged if they take care and you do also) nothing over 25w !

after you replace the laser your good...you don't need to tweak it or try any of these other stupid so called "methods" just replacing the laser will get you going Wink

610  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: new ban wave on: November 14, 2008, 01:18:12 AM
^ no problems cause im not the one being banned here hey (and yes i'm speaking in general, not just to you)Wink but if there was a disagreement with someone say Arakon who was actually involved in the testing with secdata.bin don't you think he would have shot me down by now ?? disagree however much you want because I really could give 2 $#!ts honestly  Cheesy

random2k your almost right - hey, at least you did some readin' Wink

Quote
So, regardless of online or offline so long as you put a a poorly ripped(non stealthed) burned game disk in drive.  It will be logged to the secdata.bin on your hard drive? Then sent to MS and down road, that is why people have/will/are being banned. (I get this, MS cant detect firmware just poorly burned games)

Yes correct except secdata.bin is stored in the NAND of the Xbox 360

Quote
I was under impression 1.4 firmware was suppose to protect the newbies from playing poorly stealthed games. That would then keep your  secdata.bin log clean since the firmware itself stopped you from being dumb.

It won't keep it clean...if it happens to play a bad game (as in the firmware allows it) it's logged and if you have had a previous bad game from the use of old firmware that still exists in the log, however a note here is that as I said before not EVERYTHING is known about what exactly is and isn't logged in secdata.bin but also things like for example e66 are logged..."doggy stuff"

Quote
secdata.bin, anyway we can stop/delete/ it?  (maybe takeout HD? use a memory card when playing burned games offline?)

what I said before...the theory I had way long time ago was that if you cleared it (every time) you should be fine however this isn't easily done and isn't dooable for alot of people AND I don't know how M$ are using these logs (read up a bit) so that may be useless

Quote
What guide or tool or tools should we all use to recheck all my games to see if any where not stealthed right? (so far i am not banned. I don't usually play my burned games on live. I actually buy my live games (halo3/cod4)(only 2 i play online) But since the  secdata.bin can screw you i am a bit worried about a ban down the road. maybe)

mulleter (which i'm only suggesting cause I know "people" don't like my suggestion of abgx since it's "geared towards pirates" but IMHO abgx is the new and improved mulleter...way better in every aspect anywhoo)

Quote
Anyhow,
How can I recheck my games (I got all the isos ive burned) Anyone have a newbie guide on how to check your games so your  secdata.bin wont log/then report your ass.

as above...making sure (if your going to use abgx) that it's set up properly (Arakon i'm not trying to give the wrong impression or any suggestions towards pirating or piracy, this tool can be used legitamentally same with mulleter)

Quote
I used random things to check but i figured it wasn't THAT important since i THOUGHT 1.4 stopped nonstealths from running lol anyhooo i hope my elite wont get banned LOL we shall see...

Yeaaah but as I said, it's not just that, secdata.bin

Quote
Maybe its time for 1.5 firmware that rejects non stealthed games or something because a lot of people who don't know better will be banned lol.

Just want to make this clear to everyone not just you Wink

THERE is NO problem with the current firmware and the detection method/s have been the same as always (well since 4532 when secdata.bin was incorporated into the kernal hehe, sneaky sneaky)

remember...if you disagree...I don't care Smiley !

haha oh yeah I forgot about the need for an infectus to program the chip lol, yeah I know it's just the XD card mod on a fancy PCB but it is quite a nice idea. Maybe (probably never) if there is a hacked bios we can start using these hehe but until then i'm not touching one...if these people wanted ot make money they should have brought this out a loooooong time ago

Also my cousin told me something about not having a HDMI slot is also one of the reasons my xbox 360 isnt reading backups?

your cousin is an idiot !

Quote
I looked around online for tutorials but the only one i could find was Textbook2008 pdf.

yay finally someone did there research, because of that we will help Smiley

the reason your Xbox 360 is reading back ups is because:

you screwed your laser tweaking the pot, put it back to where it was...you usually go down in resistance not up also  Cheesy

your back-ups are not stealth (check with mulleter or abgx which is what I use)

you are using $#!t media

you have a bad burn

your firmware is fine as you said you could read originals which means the dvd key is correct, what media are you using (Verbatim DVD + R DL burnt at 2.4x using CloneCD or IMGBurn is what you should be using) and have you checked your back-ups with mulleter or abgx

614  Xbox 360 / XboxHacking - General / Re: new ban wave on: November 13, 2008, 10:55:08 PM
look...my thoughts no facts again as I can't interperate secdata.bin for those who can't read (and I know no one asked for them...but the facts are already there, logged and banned) on the whole review retail copy thing is: provided you don't actually play them on LIVE and they contain valid "stealth" files you should be fine and that should not be logged

actually, where are your test results? been waiting a year now and nothing yet. you've been called to the mat several times but you've failed to deliver an answer

sent to a person who could read it ffs...ROBINSOD !! I keep telling you I don't know how to interperate them...where are you test results. What like I need to send them to you because you can read them ? Idiot..just take a second and read and understand that I can not interperate them, I only knew robinsod could but maybe tmbinc can also (and maybe a few others like that)...

MastaG I wouldn't have posted my FULL console info here haha (M$ do visit this site, ask Arakon) - check your PM's...we should talk over MSN

620  Xbox 360 / Xbox 360 General Discussion / Re: NXE and Games on: November 13, 2008, 08:59:56 PM
thanks appreciated...so...Guitar Heros are only 2.5GB hey, hmm well assuming it's not still actually using some of the data *from* the dvd in the tray...the rest (I would assume) is junk data.  So it's like Wii disks (well completely different actually but you get what i'm pointing at) where you can scrub em'  Cheesy

Ok so I just got an idea...lets equate for the "left over" data, (not having installed the NXE I wouldn't know and I don't think this has been answered)  is the video sector copied over (To play this...) ? I don't think it would be...because you couldn't not play it in an Xbox 360 and you can't put the HDD on someone else's console either.

Apart from that, what the hell else could make up that much "extra" data or is the game simply 2.5GB big as n00bpwner360  suggested...
