personally myself I just use a USB cable...stable source of power and 5v (if you want 3.3v then throw on a 100Ohm resistor)

I have had this issue once or twice like you said the drive "appears" to be stuck in mode B...all I did was power on/off a couple of times (along with some ejects) and it was good as gold

you don't need a router (I have done this exact thing with a cable modem)...obviously if you want to do it the exact same way you said you will need either 1 on board Ethernet port and 1 NIC...or 2 on board Ethernet ports or 2 NIC's....

Use ONLY crossover cables and also set up the I.P's correctly...e.g

Computer I.P: 192.168.100.10, Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 and DNS 0.0.0.0

Xbox 360 I.P: 192.168.100.9, Default Gateway: 192.168.100.10, Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 and DNS 0.0.0.0

or you can buy a router (if you don't have one), hope that's not to complicated

ignore all warnings, don't update and make a txt file and rename it firmware.bin, if you don't have a VIA card you will need to do the VCC trick

E80 (so far...) basically means the efuse wasn't blown (e.g R6T3 was removed thus preventing any efuses to be blown).
